Thinking I'd seen a topic about RT/RS conversions I thought I'd do search through the past ten or so pages ... and discovered that I only have "back" 5 pages.

Look in the lower left corner...see "From The". That's where you specify how many pages to display. Your User CP is where this is set or defaulted. However, a search should find instances on all pages regardless of the display setting. But if you want to browse, you'll need to change that setting in the corner.
