    Mission done:)

You know its out there and those that pic will do so somehow. We are a few years away, it appears for Cal opportunities. I happen to love the area mentioned and fight hard for it. 100000+ HD Rally was there indeed for years(July4) and too many tents to count, vendors too. Something worked, depsite its size. A rally so close to home is also a "lost year" for touring, my most favorite vacation idea. Older now as most here, so taking in the sights/riding far is more my liking. Volunteering? Still get a thrill from it all. Find myself sitting here too much too. Computers, mixed bag of stuff to broaden the bottom, as my Iron Butt softens...Randy

As far as Louisville, and indoor camping or outdoor camping, I would just stay in one of the many hotels at the entrance or the fairgrounds where I can walk to the Expo center. The BIGGEST problem with Louisville is the timing of the Rally, The Spring meet ends around July 4 every year and that means no horse racing at Churchill. There are other casinos in the area and the rides along the scenic Ohio river roads to get to them would be awesome. I'm sure you could get a few bourbon companies from the are to participate.

    Map

Ok Ian, understand the map now and when it takes effect, 2013.

    2012 is in MO.
2013 is likely somewhere further west.

Assuming 2014 is already well in negotiation and further west yet, we can assume a west coast rally in 2015 meaning something on the east coast in 2016?

When the RA had a rally in Shelbyville, TN a few years ago, they had a tour of the Jack Daniels operation. They didn't allow anyone to ride there but they provided busses to take us and bring us back. They didn't want anyone to drink and ride. It was an interesting tour with lunch and samples provided.

A note on the notion of the Lou,KY fairgrounds site: Yes there is an airport across the road & it has lots of planes in & out. I don't remember a flight pattern that went right over the urban area of Louisville in my many times flying in & out there & that's where the fairgrounds are located. There are hotels next to the grounds & they are not noise polluted places to stay as I had to stay in them many times over the years I worked. Those hotels are commonly used for smaller business meetings and not a place to avoid because of noise. Camping area-I'm not so sure of as it is in an urban area, but also a very large area. Some of the buildings house animals for the August state fair each year and other events. Definitely never been a place that made me think about camping there! Maybe a great rally site but not a typical place for camping.
