He has been in my thoughts all through my month down in Cape Breton, riding there and home without any mishap or scary moment. This I contribute to Clem and may he continue the process of healing with a fair wind at his back.

    Clems current status

The following was just provided by Clem's family. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. A card every once in a while would be nice so he knows we did not forget about him. Respectfully, John Saarinen

Earlier this week the doctors inspected Dad's grafts from his surgery last
Thursday and they were very pleased with what they saw. Pleased enough
with his healing and stability that they had him back in surgery yesterday
to finish some of the previous work done on his legs.

He has been alert and the doctors have been impressed with his level of
healing. His blood pressure and cardiovascular health continue to keep the
doctors on their toes but he has been reasonably stable. On the whole, he
    has been doing well.

Your positive thoughts and prayers are definitely helping.

Dad had what could be his last major grafting surgery Tuesday of this past
week. His wounds are now 100% covered. His grafts are taking nicely. He is
more alert and very communicative with family, the doctors, and nursing
staff. He has been eating some soft food (pudding and jello). If progress
continues in this fashion the tracheotomy could be reversed soon which
would allow him to speak more easily and to eat real food.

While there continue to be minor twists and turns in his recovery he has
remained stable and is healing well. There is still a long way to go but
things are moving in a solidly positive direction.

On a more difficult note Grandma Pardales is not doing that well and has
slowed down quite rapidly over the last month. To think, we just
celebrated her 98th birthday at the end of September.

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers.

    Any new progress reports

I was wondering if anyone has a current progress report they could share about Clem? I sincerely hope he is making great strides.

    Clem Pardales recovery status

Shown below is the lastest status for Clem. He has made tremendous progress but still has a way to go. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts. Every once in a while send him a card wishing him well.

    FROM HIS FAMILY

    Hello Friends and Family,
Thanks for your patience in awaiting an update after a few long weeks. There has been alot going on for everyone. The day to day procedures, pokes and prods of the ICU have been trying, but the plan is for Dr. P to be moved to the rehab area as early as next week, provided everything continues to remain stable. Please see Michael's email below for details.

As always, thanks to everyone at church who continues to ask about Dr. P , his progress and our family. It really means alot to me personally, and it is good to know that you are all there in times of need. So, again, I ask for positive thoughts, prayers and strength for progress!!

    Thank you all, Melissa

My apologies for the delay in updating you all. While there have been some
ups and downs over the past weeks Dad continues to make progress. The
doctors are talking about getting him out of the ICU and up to the
physical therapy (PT) unit so he can begin more intensive PT. His grafts
have all taken very well and he has remained quite stable. There is still
some work to do around his kidney function and one more surgery that is a
few weeks off. Dad is looking forward to a potential move, and more
movement, as he is stating to get a little tired of this hospital bed.

    Clem Pardales condition

This was posted by his family, please do not forget him. He has a long way to go. He and his family really need our support through cards and letters.

Dad has fended off the infection he was dealing with, which is great. That
said, he is not medically sound enough to move to the rehabilitation unit.
We have been trying to get him out of the room once a day so he can have a
    change of scenery.

The Rehab people say they have seen patients in Dad's condition make big
gains within a few days of getting into Rehabilitation. If we can get him
there, things might take a big jump for the positive. That's where we are
    right now.

Happy New Year to you all, and keep the positive energy flowing our
    direction.

    Michael

Dave and I signed the 'big' card that was going around at the end of the Rally, and I've since sent another 'get well' card and a Christmas card. I'll send another 'thinking of you' type one in the next few weeks. Aiming for every 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for keeping us all updated. When we didn't hear anything for so long after the Rally, we feared the worst had happened.

We want to thank everyone who supported Clem in the past and continue to support him with cards and letters. He is still in the Trauma Burn Unit of University of Michigan Hospital. During one of our last visits with him we presented him with the big card that was signed by so many of our members at the Bloomburg Rally. He lit up and became more alert. Clem and his wife looked over the card and his wife is going to read it to him a part at a time. We continue to visit him and help cheer him up. I've placed the hospital address below for anyone who wants to send him a card. I want to thank all those members who have helped cheer him up through their cards and letters.

Dad continues to hang in there. He has been lucid and aware the last week,
which has been really nice because we've been able to talk with him. That
said, he is battling some level of infection that the doctors are trying
to sort out and get him through. Besides the battling of infection he has
been fairly sound. Not ready to move to the rehab unit yet but that is
still what we are aiming for.

    Clem Pardales makes progress

Great news on Dr. P's progress!! Below is an email that HE SENT to us today and asked us to forward to all of you:

This Letter is to thank you for your concerns, prayers, lovely cards and messages.

Our family will be gratefull for ever.

I am doing well, and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

    see you soon.

He has made remarkable progress in the last two weeks. There is a very good chance that he will be leaving the hospital in about two weeks to either come home, or continue his rehab in a sub-accute care facility. Amazing really.

Hooray!!! We will keep you posted!

Dad made it to the Physical Rehabilitation unit last week! He is making great progress. They have him on a rigorous schedule of both occupational and physical therapy which leaves him very tired at the end of each day. But he is working hard and has been very committed to the road ahead. He has remained infection free and is doing a little more each day. He is aware of what is happening and in good spirits.
