    Clem Pardales

His daughter in law sent the latest update on his condition. We also extended the offer of making a collection. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Cards wishing him well are always welcome.

    Respectfully, John Saarinen

    The hospital address is:
    Clemon Pardales
    University of Michigan- Trauma/Burn Center
    1500 E. Medical Center Dr.
    Ann Arbor, MI 48109

    From his daughter in law.

    Dear Friends and Family,

Dr. P had a good day today. He seems stable and healthy enough for surgery tomorrow (more debridement). His blood pressure and sugar numbers are good. We are hoping if all goes well they may take him off the ventilator which will make things more comfortable for him and hopefullly allow him to be more alert.

Thank you for your continued prayers. It is making a difference for us all. Thank you for all of the offers for various forms of help. Right now the best thing we could ask for is prayers.

    Prayers,
    Melissa

I'm posting this at the request of Brian Manke:
Thanks to the initiative of MOA Ambassador Brian Manke, the Wisconsin BMW Club raised over $300.00 at our monthly meeting last night, for our MOA brother. We will be following Clem's progress and wish him a speedy recovery.

    Clem Status

Ives who has been the member all of our communications are going through gave this status report. It mentions the card everyone was kind enough to sing for him. That card will be delivered as soon as he can receive visitors.

    His report:
I was not allowed to see Clem, but did speak with his wife and two sons in the waiting area for a 20 minutes or so.

Clem is intubated and does respond to the family some of the time. He is still in very serious condition. His wife and sons are doing well and asks that I express their thank you to all who have reach out with cards and calls. Mrs. Paradales also said she did receive a package from the MNOA with a t-shirt, hat, & pin and other rally stuff.

I asked how long Clem had been riding and was told he starting in 2005. They also asked about the accident scene so I describe it as best that I could. I also told her about Clem's comments about his friends not believing the great roads he was riding on. Mrs. Pardales said she knew Clem was having a great time as he had told her so the night before.

I told her about the card John had gotten signed and she said she knew Clem would enjoy seeing the card when he gets better.

Thank you for supporting him with cards and letters.
    Respectfully, John Saarinen

    Clems status

Below is Clem's stsus. He is still in very serious condition and will need our prayers and cards extending our well wishes for him and his family. Our member (Ives) who has been talking directly to the family got a chance to see him. Ives said that Clem did squeeze his hand when he heard him talking. Clem will have a long road to recovery. Thank you for the support shown by the MOA for a fellow rider. Respectfully, John Saarinen

    Hello All,

Yesterday proved to be a more positive day for treatment. The intibation tube was removed and the trach was successfully put in. Dr. P was stable enough during that procedure, as well as the debridement and skin grafting in some areas. The night was also stable. We are feeling like things are starting to move in the right direction with regards to the physical treatment. Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. I will give you more info as things develop.

    Prayers,
    Melissa

Doctors are still encouraged with dad's stability and progress. He has been off all ventilation for 24 hrs and his blood pressure has also been stable. He has been more awake than previous weeks and seems to acknowledge the presence of those around him. He nods "yes" and "no", including giving us a few words or short phrase response, to questions asked of him.

Though not scheduled yet there is likely to be another surgery this week.
    That is all for now.

    Clems condition

Please keep the cards and letters coming. It is helping to lift the Clems and his families spirits. Respectfully, John Saarinen

This is from his family August 21st....

    Hello Friends and Family,

Sorry for the delay in reporting. It has been a busy week. Dr. P has remained stable all week since the trach was put in and some repair was done on some areas of his stomach. These areas seem to be progressing well. He is more alert, although inconsistently. Every other day he has "wound care" in which his bandages are removed, areas cleaned, and he is redressed. This process takes a lot out of him and pretty much wipes him out for the rest of the day. Other days he is more alert and tries hard to communicate with us, although speaking is difficult. He has tried to practice speaking through the trach with a valve that plugs into it. This too, is frustrating because it takes much coordination of breathing and exhaling and speaking and these things all take a lot of energy for him to do. Therefore, between the wound care and physical therapy on his legs, healing and resting are first on the list of order. We will hope for more skin grafting to take place this week.

The cards and good thoughts coming in have been so nice. Thank you all. Unfortunately, he is still not up for visitors, as he remains on the Burn/Trauma Unit. The prayers are wonderful and keeping us all in a positive state. Thank you all. We are all doing ok and continue to take one day at a time. Much Appreciation for everything.

    Melissa

    FROM HIS FAMILY....

    Dear Friends and Family,

Here is Michael's latest report from today, Sunday. Please keep praying for Dr. P and his recovery. Thank you. melis

Was a long week for Dad with many ups and downs. Managing and fighting
infection and low blood pressure have been the primary struggles; doctors
have been working on some better kidney function too. A lot happening to
say the least. He is stable at the moment and has been more aware lately.

Keep the positive thoughts and hopeful prayers coming.

Please keep the cards and well wishes coming to his home. He is making progress but very slowly. The injuries were severe and has had both legs amputated below the knee. His home address in shown on one of the previous postings. The following is from his son,

    Date: Thursday, September 15, 2011, 1:01 PM

Dad has had a really good week thus far. He has been very alert and has
been taking part in his care by communicating with his doctors and nurses.
His infection level is down and his blood pressure and other key systems
have been stable. The doctors seem encouraged by his progress this week
and believe it might be possible to begin skin grafting as early as next
    week.

It is looking more promising than a week ago which shows good progress,

    From the family...

    Hello all,

Dr. P has maintained his mostly stable condition and good awareness. Low
blood pressure and some infection continue to present ongoing challenges
but are being managed. The doctors want to try a test-graft procedure
later tomorrow, so they can see how his body reacts to the more
significant kind of skin grafting procedure they want to do down the road.
    Prayers for Progress!
    Melissa
