I took my F800ST in for an annual service and it turns out my rear wheel bearing has had the biscuit. It shouldn't be ridden, so the dealer offered me a ride to the train station, (I live 220km away) or they had one bike I could have for a week while parts come from the Fatherland.
The choice was clear:

There are two roads in life; the twisty one is vastly more fun.
I'm past the point in life where the riding position is comfortable, but it has some serious get-up-and-go. Roll-on response is great, but cruising at 120 km/h on the way home it was hardly breathing. Felt like it would have been comfortable at about 160.
The one thing that I noticed is that at low speeds it really falls into corners compared to my bikes.
Back in 92 I got a mustard/ketchup K1 as a loaner when my K75 was in the shop. Your's sounds like a similar experience. Good luck not getting a ticket!
