    Zummo 660

Anyone know a good trusted source for a Zumo 660 at a good deal? I'm ok with getting a refurbished unit.

I have purchase from GPS Discount.com for years, always with good service and prices. I believe they have refurbished units from time to time. Another good source is GPS City.com

I checked those sites, thanks. Most that I'm finding are listed at $650 or so.

    Garmin Zumo

You could buy a new 660 for $649 at Dell or even the 665.........

Looks like the 660 is currently out of stock though.

I was surprised to see that Dell had dropped their prices on these.

In stock refurbished at $599.99 through amazon.com.

BTW, $649.99 appears to be the current full list price from Garmin. Most new units seem to be selling for this price, must be the time of year (higher demand).

Dell frequently has 10% to 25% off coupons, check Slickdeals.com.

When I bought my 660 from Garmin, they were giving employee discount prices to AMA members. May be worth checking into.

Any have experience with refurbished garmins? Is saving $50 worth it over a new one?

Check the warranty - lots of times the refurbs have as short as 30-days. The peace of mind on $500 might be worth the $50.

As did I. I was going to post the same information, but couldn't find Garmin as a current participant on the AMA discounts page.

Zumo 550 at www.boatersland.com. In stock for $607. No mention of either of the six-series units.

I use 550s but it is time to note that these are obsolete. They suffer from a design fault- in the era of cheap memory chips they don't have enough. Current Garmin update files are large enough that you pretty much have to scrub it just to load the lower 48. (The update process is so slow on US-spec internet that I doubt many bother with it, however)
Haven't looked at the 660 / 665 memory spec but wonder if Garmin is going the cheap route yet again. At these prices, adding more main memory ought to be as easy as a pc without the shortcomings of relying on an SD card to make up the difference.

The fact that Garmins are still the best out there isn't saying much for the development of these devices..
