Zumo, Iphone, Sena headset, BMW factory radio and Bluetooth '11 R1200RT

I just purchased a 2011 R1200RT. I have successfully paired my Iphone to my Zumo and my Zumo to my Sena SMH10 so I can have phone, directions, MP3. I also tried to pair the BMW radio/sound system to the Zumo, but that did not work. I also tried pairing the Zumo to the headset and the radio to the headset, but that didn't work either. I can pair the BMW radio to the headset. It appears that either the Zumo/Iphone are paired to the headset, or the BMW radio is paired, but not both. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any ideas?

I have a Zumo, iPhone, and SENA setup (iPhone to Zumo and Zumo to SENA), although I don't have the BMW bt setup on my RT. I do have various other bluetooth devices that I've used with the SENA and the Zumo. Unfortunately, my experience has been that you can only pair one device at a time to the SENA (and only one input and one output to the Zumo at a time). I think you're stuck switching back and forth. If you could pair the BMW to the Zumo it would be relatively easy to switch back and forth (I have two SENA headsets and I regularly switch between them - wearing one and charging the other in the topcase). I'm not sure why that's not working.

I have an iPhone, Sena, Zumo 550 and most importantly, an R1200RT with Bluetooth.

I pair the iPhone to the Zumo for phone function and the Zumo to the Sena in Handsfree profile.

I connect the iPhone to the cables on the RT and Pair the RT to the Sena in A2DP profile.

I can't control the iPhone, normally just stream Pandora or episodes of the The Pace Podcast and listen to that or switch to Stereo and WX as needed. The Phone will ring in & be controlled by the Zumo and the Navigation is priority over the stereo. I can also listen to the mp3 over BT from the Zumo but since it is not stereo I normally don't.

I really need to reread the manual to see what it is capable of.... Is there a cable available to control the iPhone or an iPod through controls/display of the RT?

I have the Sena as well and I have it paired to a Zumo 550, a Camos bluetooth dongle, an AKE dongle (both borrowed) and another Sena unit. I can use three devices with the Sena without having to re-pair or adjust or anything other than turn them on in the correct order - Zumo/dongle/headset. Doesn't matter when my girlfiend's Sena gets turned on. I also have a Nokia 6275i phone paired to the Zumo. You might want to try powering them up in the above order. Works for me!

Your bike should have been delivered to you with a Supplemental Pairing manual. This provides not only illustrations of various pairing combinations, but also the correct sequence to follow when pairing different devices.

    Hope this helps.

It will pair ..... BMW expects us to be intuitive! My comm manual was incorrect about many of the functions and techniques on the 2011. I tried the obvious...I called the 1-800 BMW support number. I spoke with a wonderfully polite lady who told me BMW customer support really doesn't offer that kind of support (maybe they only offer emotional support after we reach our wit's end because the manual is so poorly written) and that I should call my dealer who was supposed to be trained by the regional rep. I explained to her that I was calling because my dealer had not yet been trained..........
customer support doesn't provide customer support.................priceless!!!

Zumo 550, iPhone, RT radio all BT'd to a Sena and work pretty much flawlessly. Only issue i get occasionally is the RT may not connect just right on startup and will need to pouwer off and on to let it resync. You have to mess with the settings in the zumo to get it to play nice with the the RT radio. Otherwise it tries to continually transmit and override the RT radio (recall one thing i did was ensure that the audio source was set to mp3 player on the zumo and have it stopped).
