Here's the result, have to dress the burrs with soapstone, if any, carefully. With new belt have to practice as it really removes materical very fast and before you know it, need another set of rings because one ring is too gapped.
Fairing always seemed move back and forth on turn signal post? So cut some tubing to 10mm, shined it up. Now fairing is locked down against washers and grommets. Looks stout.
Hope this isn't boring, but there's nuthin else to do until it gets warmer. Took out the fuse blocks, cleaned'em up, a little dielectic grease. Was going to buy new ones, can't find anything like these units, tough cases, thick brass fittings, fat wires, sold usually at rallies way back, put disconnects on ends for easy service.
I would make my own, go to Radio Shack (http://www.radioshack.com/family/ind...amp=PPC:Google) and pick up a fuse holder you like in the amp range needed. Add a couple crimp on lugs and you are set. I would use a blade type holder since those fuses are easier to come by.
Very cool, anything to not take off fairing to get to headlight bucket. I'm checking out local surplus store later, see if I can scrounge up some old radio junk with old panel blocks.
After a couple beer, couldn't stop, drilled the last four holes in airbox, a perfect 32 with an outside temp of 58 F. Should work like no airbox without putting those tiny K&Ns on each carb. Still stock and getting ready to slip on cylinders. No rush, can't break it in until it's warm outside. Trying to figure if I should get some of recommended Quickseat powder, a propietary product from Total Seal? Dry or powder, hum, let me think? What's in the powder? One more phone call. Yep, that's a newly oiled K&N in there. Guess it can run for awhile, even though the OEM paper is supposed to be best filter.

Got my nickle wheel weights, with little set screws no less. No more cranky lead weights or the stickys that always seem to fall off. From Aero. Can get brass too. Things are really heating up.
Weights are either Brass, for looks, or nickle, from Aerostich up in Duluth, MN. Google the website. Pick'em up if you drift that way over Lake Superior this summer, or through the mail. A little pricey, but what the hay, when it comes to wheel weights, enough is never enough.
Talked to BMW mechanic today, never heard of Quickseat powder, talked to another longtime engine builder, thought it must be some kind of abrasive powder. Gonna call Total Seal. I'm leaning toward LPS1, a very thin oil spray, with an assembly lube high in Zinc on the piston skirts.
Got a lot of time to fool around before sliding cylinders home. It's getting warmer, but can't really break it in before I can go for a decent ride. Those rings are really trick, with the second being a two piece gapless seal, two rings mated with gaps 180 degrees apart. Never used a three piece, gotta be real careful with gaps and seating the wipers. Don't know what I would do if I didn't have stuff to fix up.
No to that Walking EAgle, haven't used it.

Here's Zeuna falling under 5 eighths bit, loosens things up a little, still quiet enough to get by, with class. Now let's see, what else can be drilled?

Here's another look inside, can't make this camera focus at both planes. Stuck with 38mm pipes. Don't need 40s unless you're racing at Daytona and it's 1975/6. Might have to get some pine tar on gloves to hang onto this rocket? Just kidding. If the front wheel comes off the ground, (tongue in cheek) that's it, I'm finished.
