    The newest BMW ad?

Did you catch the newest BMW ad? Saw it in a motorcycle publication for the first time yesterday. If I get a chance, I'll scan it, but the words essentially say...
If you're not wearing BMW gear, you might as well be riding naked.

It shows a rider butt naked standing on the side of the road, wearing nothing but a helmet, standing next to his new GT. (Questionable parts blurred out.)

What a way to make a living!!

I'm afraid to watch it. Not sure why but that picture scares me.

Have you seen the motorcycle safety ad from Australia with all the naked bikers? The point of the ad is, "What do we have to do for you to notice us?"

I was going to post it, but I thought I might get banned

    You can Google it...

If BMW's rider gear is so good, why don't their WSB riders (Troy Corser and Leon Haslam) wear it?

Bad weather have you in a cranky mood?

Racing leathers cost upwards of $2K. BMW sells these http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=107646

but most racers would opt for custom fitted racing leathers, since it would be an odd coincidence to find an off the shelf one-piece racing leathers that would fit well enough to justify the enormous price.

BMW does not make custom-fitted racing leathers, which is the answer to your question.

Actually, the weather suits me fine. I'm just trying to see the point of BMW's ad.

Don't look for the point in adds. It's more about the effect it has. A naked man attrackts the attentions, and that's the point of the add.

Here in Holland we had some funny adds from an insurance company showing a situation that would lead to the theft or damaging of an object. The punchline was 'just call us' (in Dutch: Even Apeldoorn bellen). Problem was that some of the situations were definetely not insured... But that was not the point of the add, it was to get people talking about it. And they succeeded in that. Their punchline has become famous over here and whenever it's appropiate, chances are that somebody would recite that punchline. Watch them on Youtube

Well, the "naked rider" ad finally hit this month's issue of BMW Owner's News, on pages 23-24. Out of respect to others, I won't post the photo here, but you can see it in the online version of the magazine here: http://digital.turn-page.com/title/4865

In the picture, it appears to be raining. Good thing, because in the sun, that black seat would be awfully hot on the behind!
