    Covered Bridges of Lehigh County

My wife and daughter did not invite me to go prom dress shopping today so I thought IÔÇÖd make the best of it and take a little ride since the forecast was mid 50s with sun. On my list of rides IÔÇÖve been meaning to take is a tour of the covered bridges of Lehigh County. IÔÇÖve stumbled upon some of the bridges in my meanderings but there were a few I hadnÔÇÖt seen before so decided to take in all seven this afternoon. I loaded the route into the GPS and took off.

In the interest of time, I slabbed it to Allentown and stopped first at BogertÔÇÖs Bridge. ItÔÇÖs set in a park so I explored a little and watched people fish.

A short ride put me out into the country and took me to Manasses Guth Bridge and WehrÔÇÖs Bridge. There was lots of fishing going on at each bridge. Most of these bridges are crossings of Jordan Creek.

Two more red bridges - RexÔÇÖs Bridge and GeigerÔÇÖs Bridge - were next. The route is well marked and it follows some nice back roads without much traffic.

I was off to SchlicherÔÇÖs Bridge and thereÔÇÖs some nice riding between GeigerÔÇÖs and SchlicherÔÇÖs Bridge. IÔÇÖve been to this bridge before but itÔÇÖs now closed to traffic.

I knew a roundabout way on some really nice roads to get to the other side.

I probably couldÔÇÖve ridden across the bridge but I was in no hurry.

The last bridge was Kreidersville Bridge, which was in a part of the county I hadnÔÇÖt been to before. It was a little bit of a ride to get there so I had to stop for a snack and was then on my way.

Kreidersville Bridge is also set in a park and closed to traffic.

ThereÔÇÖs some nice country around Kreidersville and I stopped at this country church to look around.

All in all, not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Very nice, Terence! Thanks for sharing.

I'm just a little bit jealous of your ride, but we did get down to Citizen's Bank Parkthis afternoon and watched the Fightin' Phils win their third straight against the Astros on their way to a perfect 162 and 0 season.

Once we sweep the Mets we'll be 6-0.

    Spring is finally here!

Nice ride pix Terence! So is this the year we will finally stop talking and actually plan a ride? MARS is having lunch at Lapps Family Restaurant in Quarryville this Saturday. We'll go for a ride afterwards. If interested, PM me.

A sure sign of spring was this was my first ride of the year where I had to shed a layer in the afternoon.

    PM sent.
