Bike map

I was reading another thread, where someone had posted a picture of a map with lines drawn on it for each of their trips. This got me to thinking about where I've been. With a little help from Mapsource, here are the trips I've been on with the RT.

Any suggestions for where I should go this year?

Mine probably cover as many miles, but are a little more compact in nature, and look more like the flight of a drunken bumble bee than a migrating goose.

We've liked the run down through Mississippi to New Orleans, across Texas to southern California and up the coast. That would fill the lower left of your map. BTW, I like how you and PFFOG have tracked your rides. I found Streets and Trips put numbers on all waypoints that just clutter the map. Will try your method. - Bob

Bob, I think you can set how much detail is displayed in S&T. That's what I did with Mapsource to end up with just the lines.

A trip down the Mississippi to New Orleans and then across the south sounds good. Any route suggestions?

I must admit that we travel a bit too quickly to be good advisors but my experience on this forum has been that those living in an area are willing and able to share (although too much detail can be daunting). We are fans of New Orleans (stay right on Bourbon St... although getting the bike in the doorway was a bit challenging), Oklahoma City is a 'must stop' to visit the site of the bombing (very sobering and reflective visit), Cadillac Ranch ..... just because), hitting pieces of Route 66, follow all of the coastal highway in California (but if you see fog coming up from the ocean and down from the hills at the same time it is advisable to hunker down for a bit....... challenging winds). As I mentioned, it's sad to say that we don't slow down enough to do any place justice because each is wonderful in themselves. Maybe we'll learn to slow down the pace now that we are both retired and have flexible time frames albeit modest funding. - Bob
