I started thinking about this as I read the morning paper. I was reading a clip regarding a T-Rex exhibit at a local museum. They brought the T-Rex reproduction from the Univ of Chicago. The original was found near the little whistle stop called Faith. South Dakota. In 2008 we happened to stop there for the night. Across the street was a small place advertising Sue the T-Rex. It was closed so we didn't get the whole story at the time. However, that's not the Odd Thing that I had in mind.
On the window ledge of the motel that we stayed at was some sort of bird. It was somewhat stoic and moody at the same time. Some pellets of food were on the sill. When I asked about the bird I was told that his name was Al and he just gets a snack at the motel and then struts around town. "Ok", deciding to bite I asked, "why is his name Al?" "Well". the fella said with a grin, " that there bird is a partridge and that particular partridge is the national bird of Pakistan". Pausing a bit he continued that "Al is short for al-Quaeda". We watched as 'Al' jumped off the sill and strutted down the road. So, here's a picture of Al of Faith, South Dakota.
And what particularly unexpected sights have you seen in your travels? Pictures would be nice (although not always possible). - Bob
