RT needs new shoes....any advice.?

Is there any downside going from a 170 to a 180?

170/60*17 will fit these rims: 4.00/4.50/5.00/5.50
180/55*17 will fit these rims: 5.25/5.50/5.75

I think the RT has a 5.50 rim size, so you are OK as far as rim fitment. I'm not sure how much clearance you have between tire and swing-arm on the RT. Maybe it will fit, maybe not. Handling will change as others have mentioned.
