I have seen a picture of a new Nolan Flip helmet, I think it was just a European release, is this new helmet available in the US of A yet?
I have a Nolan N100e Plus, it's the best fitting helmet, I've ever had for my fat head.

You might be referring to the Nolan X-1002 X-lite helmet. It is a Kevlar-Fiberglass helmet. CIMA International (399 Wall Street, Unit L, Glendale, IL 60139. Phone=630.671.9710) is bringing them into the U.S. market. Retail price will be $399. There is a whole line of X-lite helmets from Nolan and the X 1002 is the flip-up model. It comes standard with the Nolan VPS sun shield. You can see the helmet on the Nolan site: on the home page, click on the logo that says "X-lite".
The helmets trickled into the U.S. late last year. You should see the helmets at bike shows and in print advertizing and there should be some magazine reviews in the next few months. I would expect dealers to have them when warmer weather comes around in springtime. Keep in mind that flip-helmets are not a big part of the helmet market and retailers may be reluctant to stock X-1002s in all sizes and all colors.
An odd thing - the N100 weighs in at 3.5 pounds and the X-1002 at 4.0 (weighing done by CIMA). Is it the extra weight of the VPS? Is a half pound significant? Anyway, it looks like a great helmet, but at that price, it compeats with the Shoei and Schubert. And when you go to their web site and look at the helmets, you might be surprised at the limited colors available.

I have been trying to track down info on the Nolan after I saw it in the BMW MOa. I'll be at the Cleveland cycle World show on Sat. and I'm hoping to look at one of these. The info is much appreciated. Shiner
Hi, I went Fri. afternoon to the Cleveland show, just got home and I did not see any Nolan helmets there at all. Actually didnt think it was much of a show for the 12.00 you pay to get in.![]()
I went, I saw, I bought. CIMA had a booth there but they only had 4-5 of the helmet with the feature that we were talking about. Schberth was only about 50 yards away and I was able to trt both side by side and I liked the Nolan. big difference in comfort over the nolan N100e (I believe thats the flip model most commonly used) At present, CIMA is the only importer of these helmets. Here are 2 numbers to call if interested. Toll free# 1-866-2helmet or business #1-630-671-9710. they are ocated in Glendale Heights, IL. Catherine Epain is in charge. Shiner
BTW, I agree that for the $12 I thought that there was going to more to see as well. Driving up from cincy in the morning, going to the Airport Sheraton, hassled by shuttle drivers, but I did get the helmet I went to see and picked up some nice parts from Wunderlich as well. Shiner
I went to the show & saw the new Nolan helmet & tried it on. I have 2 now & I like the new model. They had sold so many, they didn't have any large to sell. I might just get the new shield (tinted) when it comes available (soon) with the flip down tintied visor to fit my current helmets.Originally Posted by bmwcliff
I didn't mind paying the $12 to get in, less the $2 coupon ( did you look) plus the AMA $1 discount, Plus a free calendar & $5 for a glass of beer, But the $7 to park, burned my grass.
Lots of people having fun & I'd like to personally thank the people who are responseable for the low cut MUDD jeans & belly shirts that the Toyota Truck girls were wearing.![]()

The Toyota models that you made reference to were also staying at the Sheraton. T-Shirts, blonde, long blue jeans, and about 6'2". I went over on the shuttle with a few of them. We knew they had to be display models for someone. They caught my attention as well but they weren't interested in conversation about bikes. Shiner
What color Nolan did you get? Did it seem like a "light weight" helmet?

I went with a med. black. I liked the snap in and out features of the interior and the weight was noticeably lighter then the Schuberth that I was holding in the other hand. the one question that I really had was the noise. The other Nolan flip that I wore on a trip was extremely loud. I guess on some things I'm willing to take my chances as the rest of the helmet really impressed me. Shiner
Make sure you come back with reports as you add some miles. The X-1002 looks nice.

A new sz. med. X-1102 was on the front porch yesterday ans was christened today with a nice 150 mile ride this afternoon. Initial fir was a little tight but conformed nicely after an hour worth of riding. First thing that I noticed was being able to clearly read the panel through the clear portion. To me this was significant as often I need to lift my smoke visor on my Arai to look at the GPS or a map on the tank bag. The wind noise with the upper vent closed was no more then what I am used to with an Arai but when the top vent is opened the volume is dramatically increased. Enough that I stopped to put in the ear plugs. The vent is large and did an excellent job of cooling off (52 degree day in Cincy) I'm also accustomed to riding with the Cee Bailey +2" all the way down. The top of the windshield corresponded with the bottom lip of the sunvisor which did prove to be a bit of a distraction. I found myself trying to sit up straighter and head tilted back slightly so that the 2 lines wouldn't line up. It will just takes some getting use to on my part. Again, in comparison to my fullface Arai, when looking over either shoulder the Arai will sometimes get blocked by my shoulder. I tried on several occasions to hit my shoulders with the Nolan and it was more comfortable in respect that I could look a full 90 degrees in both directions. I'll give more impressions as time goes on. Shiner
How is the wind noise on the new Nolan? I have an Arai RX7 and it is extremely noisy. My old HJC is not nearly as bad but not ventilation. I understand that the more ventilation you have the more noise you will get but I sure would like to find a happy medium.

Bob, I have a RX-7 that I have been making comparisons to. I'd have to say that the volume is on par with what I have experienced with the RX-7. that's probably not too bad considering its a flip helmet that we are talking about. As long as you put in the ear plugs when opening the top vent and you'll be fine. I'll say it again, the top vent is huge and ventilation was excellent but the noise was deafening. On the RT with the 2+ Cee B. windshield down and it was more then I could take. Went out on a goldwing for comparison and it was no problem. Could have the communication system installed with no problem hearing the passenger. By the way, the nolan's are now showing up on Ebay for $269. Power Sports out of Colorado I believe. Shiner
I think that $240 price is for the old N100 model helmet.
