For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Sigh. An excellent argument for a sticker with one's name and phone number on the wheel side of the bag.

You're welcome, Lynn. The idea's not original to me, but I liked that someone wouldn't have to break into the bag to find out whose it was.
For my bike, I created a 1" x 2" (or so) label on the computer, printed it on regular paper, cut it to size, then used wide, transparent wrapping tape to secure them to the bags. In the last few years, weather has attacked the edges of the tape a little, but hasn't come close to reaching the paper labels underneath.
And following Eilenberger's First Law: now that the bags are labeled, they'll *never* go astray.

The packing list "bags" work well for this, cheap, effective and durable. Just stick an index card with your info on it and stick it on the wheel side of the case.

I keep looking at this thread and wondering what happened to Jim's Krauser bag that fell off going over the bridge across the Rio Grande one day full new parts for his BMW...it's probably in Japan by now if it was water tight. There is a Krauser with a nice set of snap-off tools somewhere along the road between Sherman TX and Muskogee OK and one that may still be off and down in creek bed near Eagles Nest NM with cloths and camping gear in it. My friend Doug lost a system case on his first day home with his new bike...Lost and gone for ever...as the song goes. I watched one fall off my riding partner’s bike one afternoon. After it hit the pavement it spun around in the slow lane for about a quarter mile and shot off the highway into the weeds past a fence line when it hit a pavement dot. That one we got back. The above incidents span a 30 year time frame. Good luck little bag......
