I just bought my first BMW on Saturday. It's a 1974 R90/6. A great bike from a great friend. It sat for 8 years, and I managed to get it running by Saturday evening. I cleaned the lower part of the carbs, changed a throttle cable, new battery, new fuel, and oil and filter. It's running, but I need to completely go through the carbs for it to run right. Hopefully I can pick up a kit tomorrow. I have had a few motorcycles in the past. First was a 1980 Honda XR 200 trail bike, then a 1982 Honda Nighthawk when I was in college, then a 2000 Harley Davidson which I sold in 2005. In addition to the BMW, I have a 1973 Honda SL100 dual purpose. I'm pretty excited to get the BMW in operating condition and get some riding in. I can sit and stare at it in the garage for hours.

Congrats on the bike and welcome to the club! Enjoy your ride, it sounds like a great old motorcycle and kudos to you getting it running again!

Thanks Ian and Bob. I will post some pics as soon as I have some that are worthy. I just picked up the carb kits today, and hope to get those rebuilt on Thursday. I also have a faulty turn signal relay. Do either of you know if they can be disassembled and cleaned / rebuilt? Thanks.
