    My display says "SERVICE"

So now in the lower left corner of my LED display it says service. I have a GS911 and no fault codes, no service reminders should be on. The bike has 5800 miles on it. Is this due to nearing the 6000 mile service?

I have seen before service with a date but not one with just service, although when first started it's says "Service 0 miles"

Anyone know what's up with this?

Probably telling you that the 6K service is due. Unless someone has invented a new procedure, you must get it hooked up to the BMW Dealer computer to reset. .....OR, just ignore it if you do your own service.

I believe it's triggered by either 6000 miles or 1 year passing since the last service was performed. You can easily reset it with your GS911.

The bike has the capability to accept a date and a mileage to remind the rider to get the bike serviced. The dealer should set the time and mileage for the next service by using their service tool. You may also set these parameters by using your GS911. It does not mean that the bike has any codes generated and it does not look at usage of the bike. It is simply an arbitrary time and mileage that has been entered (likely by the dealer). If you want to reset the indicator yourself you will need a GS911 and one of the later software updates. The GS911 software has a function that allows you to set both the mileage and the date of the next service (and also set the bikes calendar to the current date).
I do most of the servicing myself so I have used this feature a number of times.

    Resets itself:)

Mine does! GSA'07 and the service reminders go OFF on their own after a few hundred miles or days. I'm not sure the exact miles/days, but I know mine does this. I had the dealer do it the first time and I started ignoring it afterwards and found this out on my own. Auto turn off for this service reminder. 54000m now...all my own service work..Randy

I did check the service reminders with the GS911 and none of them should be on right now.

    So I remain confused...
