    Mirror issues! 1996 K1100RS

Just bought a used left mirror assembly for my 1996 K1100RS sans the mirrored glass. I popped the glass out of my busted old mirror and pushed it into the "new" one. Well it doesn't fit too tightly. On closer examination the "new" mirror assembly hole for the stem is visably larger and it doesn't have the two pins that go across the edge of the hole, inside, to hold the mirrored glass stem in. Same p/n's assemblies but different. The "new" mirror assembly didn't even have the recepticles to hold the pins. A different design. Did BMW change the design for holding the mirrored glass in some where along the way and didn't tell us?

It barely holds the glass in. I was thinking that maybe the hole was worn but once I saw it was missing the two cross pins then I knew it wasn't wear. Anybody run across this before?

    Dear Moondog,

I added the year/model of your bike to your thread title. I believe you'll get more people looking who might be able to help if you do this. Please see the sticky at the top of the page about doing this.

Thanks for your cooperation, and good luck finding a solution!

Can you post some pictures so I can get a better idea of what you're trying to do?
