    Unhappy Whoops.

    Firstly,

without pics I'm sure my plea is worthless, that being said I'll post some shortly when I return home.

    The details:
    99 r1100s, 126,000 miles

In an attempt to further troubleshoot my missing clock (I already checked and needlessly replaced the fuse) I removed the actual switch assembly from the ignition. There is a small set screw on the side of my ignition that when removed allows for the plastic assembly to drop out of the bottom of the ignition cylinder.

This assembly is a plastic cylinder, and I intended on spraying it with contact cleaner. It clips together, much like a wire connector. When I took it apart, I had it upside down, and a couple of metal bits fell out onto the floor. I retreived them all, but have no idea now how the assembly should go back together. I'm hoping someone here has been there before and can lend me a hand. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll post some pics of the bits soon.

Even non helpful replies are welcome- things like, "it'll be ok!" or "you can do it!".

    Thanks in advance,

    John

Treat all others with politeness. Not because they are nice but because you are.

Fixed it myself- although the clock still doesn't work. There were infinitely small springs, that I found on the floor with a magnet. (on a side note- I use a wall mounting tool magnetic holder that I "sweep" across the floor)

luckily my dealer had a spare ignition wire that I dissected and used as a guide. I'll post a few pics later for those that follow.

Wasn't too bad after I figured out how to reassemble without losing everything. I now know how to hot wire a BMW, I suppose. Could be helpful if I lost my keys on the road.
