Portions of California 4 over Ebbetts Pass heading west to east.

What I noticed was the lack of any centerline pavement markings.

Here in New York, they'd throw a fit if we don't get some kind of centerline markings painted within a day or two of paving...

Can't have a center line unless each lane is some minimal width. The road over the pass is about a lane and a half wide. If they put in a center line most vehicles would be either over the line all the time (or off the road).

This is common in California, on both state and county roads.

This new ranch compound on the hill used to be on a rough gravel road...took it this morning and somehow it got chipsealed...thanks, I guess!
