    New Zealand and Hawaii 2010

When one has just returned with 3500 photographs from a two week motorcycle tour of an exotic place, New Zealand in this instance, it becomes a daunting task to find a way to share them without losing the audience with sensory overload. First, of course, one throws out the duplicates and patently bad ones, leaving a mere 2,500 to review and from which to chose. We concluded that to provide some order to the chaos we would select just the very best in each of four categories which exemplify what occurs on a professionally guided motorcycle tour accompanied by a celebrity; in this case motorcyclist, world traveler, and author Ted Simon. So for the purpose of clarity we present the trip in four important parts: the people, the food, the scenery, and other stuff too good not to share. Here is part 1, "The People".

Voni has suggested that I get busy sorting scenery pictures. So I had better get busy sorting scenery pictures, or so it would seem.

The ongoing challenge here; keeping it short and sweet.

I'm looking forward to seeing them.

    Welcome back.

So glad you took lots of pictures as it's only been about 8 weeks since my visit there. Just can't get enough of New Zealand.

Looking forward to seeing the other categories and hearing about your experiences.

Hey, I know Reini. He was one of the guides on the Beach's New Zealand Tour my wife Susi and I took back in January '05. What a great trip that was. Thanks for the memories Voni and Paul.

Great pics; looking forward to more.

I'd be interested in a bit of info about the logistics of your trip. Who did you book with and other details.

When we travel by ourselves, often camping and often in out of the way spots, sometimes we cook, food. Sometimes it is really good. But it certainly doesn't compare with the food provided on our tour to New Zealand. At the time we kept telling ourselves "we need to quit eating like this" but didn't, and somehow managed to each only gain two pounds. The food ranged from deliciously simple to multi-course complex, and delicious. Here are some examples:

and for ALL of the food related pictures, if you dare, including menus, go here:

A special draw of our tour was having Ted Simon of Jupiter's Travels join us.

    New Zealand food

You know Voni, it speaks volumes about your trip when you come back with 154 pictures of just food.
After viewing those I find it amazing you only gained two pounds. Sure that wasn't 2 kilos (2.2 lbs= kilo)?

Well I got through the first of 7 batches of pictures and have selected some scenerypictures. Voni has again suggested that even if it is my birthday I should get busy selecting the pictures from the other 6 batches. I'd better get off the forum and sort pictures some more, or so it would seem.

But just to keep your interest:

What really hits home will be seeing all the road pics like the one above shot from the left side of the road.

Since we found 150 good photos of food from New Zealand we decided that the roads, and shorelines, and mountains, and fields, and cities, and flowers deserved at least as much attention. The riding and the scenery are why motorcyclists go to New Zealand. Here is but a brief sampling to whet your appetites.
