    Identify the connector game ...

While installing the dual plug coils today (thanks, Rick! (Motorrad Electrik)), I came across this blue connector in the OE harness:

Any idea what accessory it is for? The bike is a 1988 R100RT. The schematic in Haynes identifies it as a "Connection For Special Equipment," but doesn't say what special equipment. It's not for the 4-way flashers or heated grips, as these have already been installed using different connectors. The wires tie in at several points to the lighting system -- maybe a connector for the flip-out driving lights that were an alternative to air ducts in the RT fairing nose?

My BMW electrical CD just says "optional accessories". Could be police lights, sirens, etc., but for the average person, those aren't "accessories".

I'm using some of the connections for my extra lights and sidecar.

Yeah, I'm guessing it'd be for the police gear.

Is is for the lights that go in the fairing or a light kit that would go on a unfaired bike.

I installed OEM heated grips from a BMW dealer when I purchased my 85 R80RT in 2001, and the kit used that blue plug for the power. I thought it rather handy actually

Interesting -- the factory kit was installed on my bike, but does not use that socket.

    Thanks for the input!
