Pennsylvania SuperTech - Registration now open

Feb 5 thru 7, 2010 Pennsylvania Airhead SuperTech (PA)

The Pennsylvania Airheads will hold our SuperTech event again this winter in Boyertown, PA 19525 (about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia, PA). The best ever. This will be a weekend filled with airhead tech sessions and multi-media expert advice and experience as well as some great camaraderie. Training sessions will cover how airhead systems and components work, how to maintain and overhaul them, how to get out of trouble on the side of the road and how to keep these great bikes safe and reliable. Sessions will mostly focus on the ÔÇÿlaterÔÇÖ airheads from /5 through end of production. We will have our complete collection of component cutaways and demonstration units as well as some new cutaways and new session topics for 2010. Things you've never seen before.

The very special guest, and keynote speaker at the Saturday night banquet, will be the worlds leading authority on motorcycle handling and chassis design: Tony Foale. At his website http://www.tonyfoale.com/ you'll see that Tony has been involved in the motorcycle industry for decades and has done everything from frame and component design and manufacturing, racing and racing team support, development of high end computer simulation models that predict motorcycle behavior, technical writing for numerous publications like Motorcycle Consumer News as well as authoring his world renown book ÔÇ£Motorcycle Handling & Chassis DesignÔÇØ. He is a brilliant engineer and a great guy who also loves BMWs, particularly Airheads and he will bring his experiences, his wisdom and his knowledge to Boyertown this year. We are excited for the opportunity to learn from him and to get to know him.

We will gather for lies and tire kicking on Friday night for those arriving early and the tech sessions will begin at 8:00am on Saturday morning, running all day. Training sessions will cover how systems and components work, how to maintain and overhaul them, how to ÔÇ£git out of trouble on the side of the roadÔÇØ and how to keep these great bikes safe and reliable. Sessions will focus mainly on the ÔÇÿlaterÔÇÖ airheads from /5 through end of production. All the famous cut-away and demo stuff will be there. WeÔÇÖll bring in lunch and finish the day around 5pm. The banquet dinner that evening will start around 6:00 for more tire kicking time with Tony and the other instructors, then dinner and TonyÔÇÖs fascinating presentation.

Sessions will begin again Sunday morning and activities will conclude by noon so everyone will be able to travel home that afternoon. This will be a unique opportunity to get valuable maintenance, trouble shooting and restoration knowledge and to defeat the winter doldrums and PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). Great info, great camaraderie and great time with world famous airhead experts.

Our goal is to maximize the value and access to the instructors for those attending so only 60 slots are available for SuperTech. Attendance is on a pre-registration basis only. Fees will be: $108 for Airheads Beemer Club members for the weekend and $128 for non-members. Fee includes all tech sessions, coffee and donuts each morning and Saturday lunch and dinner.

Limited seating is available for spouses at the banquet for an additional $38 per head. (A very nice affair and there are many things for spouses to do while you are at the Tech sessions). In past years we have had numerous spouses join us Saturday evening.

Registration opens December 1st, 2009. Send a check for the total amount made out to Robert Sipp at 2188 Johnston Ave, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Please include, typed on a separate sheet, your name, address, phone number, email address and ABC membership number to facilitate contacting you with further details. Bob can be reached at bmwbob@ptd.net if needed but only received checks will count. ItÔÇÖs only fair to everyone. Once the max participant number is reached we will hold further checks on a standby list and return them after the weekend has completed. We have always gone to the standby list so its worth the wait.

We will be supplying further details regarding motel and airport info, maps, schedules and driving directions to students after they register. Please do not drag your feet on this one. This event has sold out quickly in past years and slots may again fill up fast. We look forward to seeing you there and having a great weekend together.

    Me five

Got the check into the regional PO depot at 11:55 PM Tues.

Hoping to make the list -- this would be my first SuperTech. Guess I should have been reading the airhead boards more over the last few years!

Hey Mark, I hope we both make it. You will have a blast!! There is way more Airhead info available in such a short time you will be frustrated because you need to be in two places at once. That's why multiple years is a good idea :-). Bring your camera and a LARGE notebook.

When the LT's are gone the Airhead machines will still be running.

I don't think I can make it this year, but you definitely won't be sorry! Amazing event, amazing knowledge second only to the camaraderie.

Cheers to Todd and the gang!

My understanding is that this event is now full. Only standby tickets are still available. Is this true? 12/17/09.

    Pennsylvania SuperTech fully subscribed

Yes, it's true. We were fully subscribed in 4 days and we have about 20 folks on the waiting list. It is unfortunate that we cannot open this to more people but the facilities will really not accommodate that and we want to keep the numbers small so those who do attend get close to the instructors, get their questions answered, get to meet everyone, get lots of physical "poke your fingers into em" access to the cut-aways and don't have to stand in lines. We'd hate for it to be like freshman chemistry or Disney World. Interactive, Intimate, indoors, heated and fun.

I remember freshman chemistry and this is waaaay better. And there are no tests....but great information. (Although the battery session did include chemical reactions, as I recall.)
