Sta-Bil or Sea Foam, Vote Now.

I have used exclusively Sta-Bil for storing my bikes with fine results. Lately I have heard more people using Sea Foam as a fuel stabilizer. Is one better than the other? Are there negative results from using either product? Is one just a prettier color than the other?

I use Stabil as a stabilizer.

I use Sea Foam as a cleaner.

My opinion is that is the optimal use of each product.

    I too, vote for "both."

Sort of like apples and oranges as Paul essentially pointed out.

Use Stabil when you're storing a tankful or not riding much.

Use Sea Foam in your tank and crankcase just before an oil change---it'll really clean out your engine well.

I've never heard of any pitfalls with using these excellent products. I think Marvel Mystery Oil is also good stuff and similar to Sea Foam but since I've never used that before I can't say for certain.

I have used stabil for years but recently found spectro fc premium. my daughter has a Honda 50 that she uses so infrequently that I have to rebuild the carb every time she wants to use it even with Stabil. I started using Spectro and even after sitting all winter it starts Right up. I use it in every thing now.

I've never used sea foam since I live in Ohio. Sta bil seems to work but it could be beet juice with good marketing. I've seen cars sit for 2 years with no gas treatment and are fine. Much longer than that and I wouldn't trust anything short of draining it.

I think it depends a lot on the size of the jets in the carb. I've had a little 750 watt generator with a 1.5 HP Kawasaki engine on it since the 80s and I have had to clean the jet numerous times whether I used Stabil or not. My large generator and John Deere doesn't seem to care. I also try to find 100% gas for my last fall fill-up (there's only one station in town).

    Sta-Bil or Sea Foam

I'm not sure Sea Foam even acts as a fuel stabilizer for storage. My neighbor used it in his boat last winter & after four months the boat would hardly run. We had to drain the tank & carbs & that was the nastest looking fuel I've ever seen.

I use Sta-Bil for storage & Sea Foam 1/2 can every two months in the fuel when I know I'll be runing the tank to empty.

OK, I guess the majority votes for Stabil. I guess that only leaves one unresolved question: Which goes better with vodka?

You are trying to burn Vodka in your engine? That seems a a tremendous waste!

Probably wreaks havoc on the catalytic converter, too...

Really no worse than ethanol from corn, really. Much the same, actually.

    .

In some parts of the country, "corn" means whiskey.
