Background:
I bought a '99 RT a couple years ago that has the original stereo. It has the remote control thing on the left handle bar and works fine, though it doesn't pick up radio stations very well. No matter, the only thing I use it for is playing my MP3 equipped Zumo through it, using one of those cassettes with the attached wire. Anyway, since I got it, the speakers were in less than good shape, but since I added a +3" Cee Bailey screen, the extra wind blockage has helped provide somewhat decent sound, even at highway speeds. However, this past Saturday, the speakers took a turn for the worst, and now they're REALLY shot.

Question:
What's my best option with the least amount of expense AND work? I'm not looking for super high quality sound here, just 'decent' or 'pretty good', if possible. I'd prefer to just replace speakers, since pulling stereo and handlebar control seems like a lot more work. Specs on original speakers appear to be 4 OHM, 20/30 W. Can those be upgraded, still using same stereo? Or is it just not worth it and I should start from scratch? Sorry if this is long-winded. Thanks.
