    Final Drive - Anothr Thread

Having purchased my 07 K1200GT with 4000 miles and only 12 months old the previous owner supplied me with all the paperwork from his 600 mile service, I was happy to see a oil/filter change, final drive oil changed and recall warranty work preformed on the oil tank vent and the center stand was checked also.
Now my mileage is at 11700 and just to be on the safe side I have decided to perform another final drive oil change, rather than to drop the final drive I choose to removed the drain plug (the magnet was packed with metal partials) & insert a 1/4 plastic tube to the bottom of the drive and began to pump the oil out. It's not working, something is wrong, removed the tube and re-inserted it and pumped again, total amount of very dirty black oil removed was about 1 oz. To make a long story short, the final drive was hastily drained at one time (I am suspecting the 600 mile service) and not quite totally drained and then re-assembled without any oil being added.
There was and is no sign of play or leaks, I filled with 200 cc of 75/90 and will run for about 1000 miles and then do it again, I hope that the oil that was removed will be a sufficient amount to send to Blackstone Laboratories for an analysis (may take several weeks, I will keep you posted).
I will not name the dealer involved (bike was purchased out of state) for obvious reasons, and BMW wonders why the rear ends are failing!

It's not easy to pump the oil out. Did you not drop the drive and see if it would drain? Did you perform an input spline greasing? That would be a prudent thing to do in addition to changing the rear drive oil.
My other bike is a BMW.

I would be very surprised if you could pump anywhere near all the oil out of a modern BMW final drive.
