Exclamation WA: Heading over Stevens Pass on SR2? Paving is Done -Update-

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is in the process of grinding the pavement on US 2 between Monroe and Sultan.
Although the contractor is not leaving a vertical edge between lanes, the ground surface is rough and the roadway is signed for motorcycles to use caution.
The roadway is also signed "no passing".
Motorcyclists are urged to use extreme caution and consider alternate routes.

WSDOT plans to pave the highway the week of July 13.

It's my advice to head South on 203 about 1/2 mile to Ben Howard Rd.
Take this to Sultan, effectively by-passing 1000 miles of wear on your tires.
Besides... Ben Howard is a great ride...

Thanks for the info. I'm riding over to Great Falls, MT on Saturday and back on Sunday. We're planning on 90 over but not sure on the way back. I'll take 20 over 2 any day but if I do come back over 2 I'll try that Ben Howard road, looks very nice.
    Thanks,

I rode this on the hack yesterday.
    Nasty.
If it were under a mile maybe.
    It's five+ miles long (milepost 16.12 to 21.35) w/ deep swirling grooves.

    Take Ben Howard.

T'was why I moved out to Gold Bar.

I just need to avoid 2 westbound on Sundays... THAT is painful.
Why people subject themselves to that I'll never understand.
One trip in that mess took me 45+ minutes to get to Sultan from Gold Bar, 8.7 miles.
I was in a car. Ugh.

    Exclamation Update:

Rode it this AM... Paving is done in both directions.
    Painting/rumble strips remain to do.

I'll update again if a 'riding hazard' appears.
