Don't know if a new thread is the proper way to present this But...
I've developed 3 items for K bikes, and while I'd prefer to build/sell, I'm open to alternatives. I'd Really Not like all this work to just fade into obscurity.
>a solid state starter relay. Yes, BMW has a relay that won't stick, but it also won't try on a weakened battery. Mine will. Been running the original build since 2002. I've had it stop spinning the starter only twice: both were on hard-to-start long runs and it went thermal shutdown. Wait 30+ seconds for cooldown, back just fine. It's just a block of MOSFET switches, a driver circuit & the thermal protection (most important).
> an LED replacement for the bulbs in trapizoidal turn signals. A direct push/turn replacement, but with 30 LEDs in a 10 step sequence. Sweeps outward like a bargraph, while each column stays lit (LM3914 anyone?). Timed to just be fully lit when stock flasher cycles to do it again. Has load resistors to keep bulb monitor happy. A simple novelty that tends to attact more attention than stock.
> (best for last) a solid state replacement for the instrument complex. I had to give up the stock one from my K75RS for a customer, plus I've been itching to have a go at this. It's still in debugging: the odometers don't seem to track right, but it's the last issue, since I Just got the speedometer working well....(reluctive sensors Ain't Easy). Designed for 2 trip odometers (1K & 10K limits) + standard odo, uses magnetic switches to change display function. This is to allow a (relatively) sealed module. First proto uses LEDs for digits, anything further will be LCD -- no solar washout.
