Thumbs up OldSchooling on the "Lone Star Trail"

Great camping at Steele Creek Park on Whitney Lake,Texas This is a no fee camping area.

Things are slow at work, so I ask my bud Papple if he would transfer my GS down South. His itinerary was Florida to Texas.

Texas is where I want to be, as Henzilla's Hill Country ride report had me jealous and yearning of warm winter riding. I had a 100 degree temperature swing (minus 15 to mid 80's) in just a few short days.

    Whitney Lake fishing barge
This barge had great breakfast and you could fish all day for 4 bucks, but riding still sounded like the thing to do.

    Stonehenge II
The replicas of the famous Moai Statues of the Easter Islands are located on F.M. 1340 near Hunt, Texas

This is truly a unique and mostly unknown site.

Enter park through Maverick entrance (west end), and ride approximately 48 miles to Rio Grande Village, Boquillas Canyon, and Hot Springs

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . real Texas Cowboy Town -WEESATCHE, TEXAS

    2009 - Ghost Town
    1854 - Boomtown
    WEESATCHE, TEXAS

    WEESATCHE, TEXAS
    excellent example
    of a real
    Texas cowboy town

    Below:
    City Jail, Weesatche Texas

The new Weesatche post office was named in May 1860, but its designation was misspelled, "a monument to the bold, independent phonetic way that Texans often spell their place names,"
Quoted from the Handbook of Texas online

    Tour de Texas
Texas - the 28th state of the Union
When I was in Big Bend, I made a choice to see a part of Texas most riders overlook, Namely southeast Texas. This motorcycle trip would of been the same mileage to get from Big Bend to Moab, Utah and the Canyonlands of the Southwest.

    1. Beaumont to El Paso: 742 miles
    2. Beaumont to Chicago: 770 miles
    3. El Paso is closer to California than to Dallas

Most riders don't realize there is a whole 'nuther part of Texas beside the Hill Country, Big Bend and the Rio Grande Valley. Southeast Texas is mainly overlooked, the small, sleepy towns in Texas that are both rich in history and beautiful architecture. But, southeast Texas and the Panhandle over the Canyonlands of the Southwest.

    Talking . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . S E A - B L U E - Texas Style

    In the Texas Spring season

as you crest hills and round curves

you are bound to see what appears as large lakes

    but as you get closer

    you will see, not a sea . . .

    but acres of Bluebonnets . . .

    dotted with scarlet Indian Paintbrush
