I guess being poor is funny?

They do those things because they can not afford a real helmet. And even if they did buy one, most likely someone will steal it.

helmets could allow them to have black magic spells cast on them?
I think they need to line them with tin foil.
19 BMWMOA Nationals under my belt, and I have no idea what I am doing.

I've got two old helmets that I don't wear any more; wonder how I can get them to Nigeria. Maybe we can collect all our old helmets and find someone to ship them.

I saw the humor in the zest for life shown and the irreverent attitude shown by the protestors. What a zany way to say, "This is a dumb law, but I'll comply....".
Even poor people have a sense of humor, and this is what was being shown here, I felt, not a gloom and doom situation, "woe is my station in life" at all.
Sure, being without materially can be a lemon, but hey, you have a lemon, make lemonade!

Nigerians generally are not poor. Many are related to royalty worth
hundreds of millions of dollars. Some have so much they have to
search the internet for someone to share their wealth with.

They also seem to have discovered the purpose of helmets like the Schuberth.
It creates a magic spell and separates you from your money.

True, true, why at this very moment I am waiting for my share of 26 billion dollars being smuggled out of Nigeria. Waiting, waiting and waiting.....

Let's see - Rent vs buy.
1.) 500 naira = $3.60 or the daily rental fee charged for a construction workers helmet (Bump cap).

2.) Stated price of a new helmet 800 naira, therefore, $3.60/500 = 0.0075 x 800 = $5.75/new helmet. Or lower in cost than two days rental.

Are these folk really concerned about the price or are they just poking fun at a law they don't like. Pumpkin heads save lives, pumpkin heads unite! Laziness could also be a factor or resistance to change. All this is conjecture until the true situation is known.

I've been using tin foil for awhile. I don't need aliens from out of space reading my thoughts. Not that I have that many...

Add stretch wrap to the tin foil

Don't laugh too hard, fruit shells, paint pots or pieces of rubber tire tied to their heads with string might just be more protection than those silly non-approved skullcap/nazi hats that I often see on riders of cruiser style machines.
