Question Shipping a GSPD from California to Japan?

Hi; Anyone ever ship a bike to Japan (say from the West Coast, ideally Oakland/SF port)?

If so, what kind of hoops will I and the Japanese buyer have to jump through? The CA title is clear and in my name and the regustration is also current.

I've put in a request for a quote from Allied Van Lines online as I see that they ship bikes internationally, but am curious if there are any other companies that can be recommended.

What's the safest way to receive the payment for the bike (assuming we reach a deal---apparently cost is not an object)?

I won't deliver the bike to the port until I'm satisfied payment is good and in my hot little hands.

Any and all tidbits of info will be greatly appreciated!

No expert here, but new owner(if sold) will need to change headlight as Japan drive on LH side of road, so dip wrong.
Dont know of any other issues either way.

Ask for a quote of "dealer to dealer",,say from BMW SF or CAL BMW to his nearest BMW dealer in Japan. Saves some $$$

One of the safest ways to pay for both parties is through PayPal. I have used them to purchase and to sell to Europe and it works well.
