    QUOTE=kaput13;
    Guzzi's are the bomb
    - maybe some of the most captivating bikes ever made.

But you have got to have the stomach for it
SO if you don't want weird quirks you're barking up the wrong whiskey tree.

Guzzi's, even the newer ones, are full of quirks
that even the latest influx of money hasn't erased.

All part of the charm is what you will hear guzziphiles say

However if you go for it
I doubt you will regret your choice.

    Ambassador, Eldorado & California

Moto Guzzi has as strong a tradition making custom cruiser as Harley-Davidson

1971 Guzzi introduced its Ambassador, Eldorado and California models

    the same year,
Harley introduced the Super Glide - the bike that started the Cruiser style motorcycle

Guzzi has keep the California name and basic US styling

Guzzi are long-distance touring bikes with half-decent handling

    ItÔÇÖs a Guzzi
    not a Harley-wannabe,
    ItÔÇÖs the non-wannabe
    It's a "Goose"

    POLIZIA

during the 1970's, Eldorado and Ambassador were used by
California Highway Patrol, LAPD, and other US Cities

The Eldorado came in both a Civilian (footpegs)
    and Police (floorboards) version,
with different dashes, running boards and shift linkage

A different version of the (US)Eldorado, called the California
It was basically an Eldorado Police bike
with chrome plated fenders and a double seat.
(A police bike made for the civilian market)

    Moto Guzzi Alce
    From 1939 to 1943
6,390 were built for the Italian army.

    Moto Guzzi Super Alce
    1943 - 1955
    alce translates to elk

Airone Military models were made from 1939-57
The Alce bike was introduced in 1938, for military use,
being replaced in 1943 by the Super Alce.
The 500cc bike was used until 1955,
when the Falcone took its place.

The rear handlebars were to allow the passenger
to hold on and fire a rifle

use in areas such as reconnaissance and convoy escort.

The Super Alce was also used to transport land mines, small arms,
and attempts were made to mount a 9mm Beretta M38A sub machine gun
on the handle bars for firing on the move.

    6 Constructor's Championships
    8 World Championships

    and

    Moto Guzzi
    innovated the first

    Large Wheel Scooter

    Lightweight Motorcycle

The period after World War II was difficult
The solution was production of inexpensive, lighter cycles

The 1946 "Motoleggera", a 65 cc lightweight motorcycle
became very popular in post-war Italy.

A larger four-stroke scooter known as the "Galletto" also sold well

Though modest cycles for the company,
the lighter cycles continue to feature Guzzi's innovation and quality
