drippy brake fluid - 1990 K75s

a drip has caught my eye on the new-to-me K75s. It is right under the reservior on the throttle side handlebar. it drips onto the fairing, which bugs me. is there a seal that could be shot or is there something i'm missing. i'm sure this will be the first of many questions. thanx for any thoughts...

Sounds like your master cylinder needs rebuilding.

Unless you can see it leaking between the lid and the reservoir, or the bottom of the reservoir and the top of the master cylinder/ handle assembly, the most likely is the piston seal of the master.

This would work if your cylinder is not pitted. Just a light hone or cleanup with Scotchbrite or fine emery paper.

If your cylinder is very pitted, this is the complete master with reservoir.

Remember, brake fluid eats paint, so take care of this now!

Just order the new master cyl. The original one is almost 20 years old!!

That little drip will eat paint and spoil the finish quicker than you can keep it wiped up. Wrap a good rag around the master cylinder, and then get a new one ASAP.

On Ol' Smoky? How could you see the paint damage under all the dirt? Or maybe the brake fluid made a clean spot?

Of course not on Old Smokey. That bike was never allowed to leak. Road grime - well sometimes!!

On an '87 K75S that I bought for Voni a few years ago. That Baja Red color that now has a streak down the side of the fairing that looks like somebody spilled coffee or wiped a dirty diaper down the side of the bike.

Jon, I am not a one-K75 fellow. We have owned 7 - own 4 right now as I type.
