    foot peg and shifter lowering

I just installed a peg lowering kit on my R1150RT. I was able to lower the brake pedal. When I tried to lower the shifter, it strikes the bottom of the slot on the cover plate. Are there any other options to lowering the shifter? Am I correct in assuming that cutting the slot to allow the shifter to move lower is a bad idea?

    Exclamation

On my R1150R, I had to shorten the linkage screw with a dremel about a quarter of an inch in order to obtain the fit that I wanted. This procedure raised the end of the shift lever about an inch.

I know there are differences between bikes.

Do you have the right part, though?

I know the linkage screw you refer to. I want to lower the shifter not raise it. I tried extending the screw, but then as I mentioned before, the shifter hits the bottom of the slot on the cover plate. Do you know how I can lower the shifter?

I used a shift extender and hooked it on the shift lever. I use the illum sport boards and that worked out great. I agree that it would be a bad idea to grind a bigger slot.
