    Question New Seat for '02 R 1150R

    Hey guys,

I'm thinking of upgrading the seat on my 2002 R 1150R. What are your suggestions?

Rick Mayer has a special on 1150 seats. I'm getting one done by him. However, when mine is done I'll be selling my Wunderlich tall seat on the flea market.

I also have an '02 R1150R. Got the Sargent seat with heat. Felt kind of like a slab at first, but actually pretty comfortable, in part because it is an inch or so higher than my stock seat. And the heat has been nice this winter.

So, looks like there is a consensus about the Sargent seat. Now, I just have to find 600 bucks lying around.

Sargent makes a nice "off-the-shelf-fits-everybodys-butt" custom. However, Rick Mayer makes a real nice "custom-built-for-your-butt" custom. Sale price is $329 in vinyl for front & rear. http://www.rickmayercycle.com/prices.html
Not knocking Sargent at all (soooo much better than Corbin), but don't dismiss Rick just because you got a few more responses touting the Sargent. fwiw- he completed the Iron Butt on an 1150RT, and yeah, he used a one of his own saddles.

I put a Corbin seat on my 1150rt last fall to replace the Wunderlich low seat that came with the bike. Best seat I have ever had. Went on a couple 400 mile days before winter set in and I was never uncomfortable. More comfy than the Russel (nice seat) or Bill Mayer (kinda hard) I had on my previous Honda. Not all Corbin seats are created equal. I felt a buddy's Corbin on his GS and it felt rock hard. Mine is not. I also tried the BMW comfort saddle, now that seat is comfy, but for only about 30 minutes.

Has anyone tried the Cee Bailey seat? They make them for the California Highway Patrol motor officers - mostly RT's - and they are about $200 cheaper than most of the others. I figure if the CHiP's are happy with them, they must be pretty good, but you guys are sure tempting me with Sargent - and I don't have to send them my stock seats and ride standing up till the new one gets here.

The two I've heard the most good things about is the Russell and the Sargent - but someone on this thread says the Corbin is more comfortable than the Russell.

Let me know what you think.

I just got my Roadster back out of hibernation yesterday and tried my Sargent Worldsport seat for the first time.

Talk about love at first ride.

I got a heated version. Wow!

The Sargent is much flatter and less likely to hold you in one place than the stock seat. The "twins" won't get squished against the tank so much too. I also like the storage compartment that they add under the seat so I can put my manuals, spare fuses, etc.

The Worldsport is a little pricey but worth it IMHO.
