Thank you Wezul. My local dealer's Service Advisor, and a good friend after the F800 fiasco, told me he'd make the sales team give me a better deal on a S1000RR when he caught he me one day looking at the then "new" F800R.
'Twas a day the R1200S was getting serviced, and I had nothing better to do.
But we both know something about that 800cc engine no one else does. We watched mine on a dyno to test its issues, and sure enough, it appeared many times during that run. A call to NA over that is what finally made the bike a lemon.
Ah, I never did get the details of the whole lemon scenario, good to have closure.
I have indeed had one or two rear wheel locks, fortunately very early on (was it me?) and has not occured since.
The idea of a lockup at speed does not entice, no.
AZ-J, your comments are so cryptic and obtuse that I have decided to place little credence upon them. I have had zero such problems with my 2011 F800ST, but the ghost of fear remains upon hearing your tale of woe. What year was your F800ST? If a mysterious problem existed I would hope it would be corrected in subsequent years.
Cheers.
I beg your pardon. Better to activate brain before typing.
Dan,
Care to share your route through Wyoming and Montana, with any recommendations?
PM if necessary. It's a trip that is on my radar.
Rick
You all have no idea? Any of you post a picture of your F800 here?
I started that thread, because then I had an F800S. Now, my R1200S is lighter, faster, and stops quicker.
Oh, and I no longer have that 800cc engine to fret over.
Like I said, enjoy yours.
