Very nice job,she looks beautiful. I would pinstripe the bike. Blue or white.. Those valve covers look nice, did you repaint them?

yeah, definitely needs striping- that is just too much black. Light blue, white (or both together, ala motorsport styling) or gold. Red could do it too.
Ride Safe, Ride Lots
I've been through many bikes over the years, my first one being a Lambretta Scooter. Prior to this I had a Yamaha Venture 1200, which was my first shaft drive bike. This one is new to me, and I am at least the third owner, possibly fourth or fifth. Just joined BMWMOA because of the various technical forums I've read. I do not know a lot about BMWs except I recall drooling on them as a young teen ager.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I bead blasted the valve covers, they were in pretty rough shape. Then two coats of engine enamel followed by 3 coats of bumper paint. Cooked them on bricks atop my woodburning stove, then rubbed them with Mother's to get a little sheen.
Ok, that was a suggestion TricycleRob made too.
The original pinstriping was white with a small red (common on R100's I've seen). I am leaning towards white with blue.
No rush though, put about 100 miles on it today just because a week ago we had all that snow. It felt good and these things sure like the cooler temps. Ran like a clock...er, once I cleaned the left float needle and cleaned my boot off.![]()

Why better tires? Did you go down?! Studded tires perhaps? I am too chicken to get out on a bike in this weather. By the way, nice machine, like the mods and the overall look. Admire your tenacity in riding the winter roads!

I was teasing about the Tire Shine. Are you a 'rounder?
I rode today, but the snow had largely melted. The bigger hazards than ice and slush/snow were inconvenient drabbles of stone right at the apex of an otherwise tasty twistie.

I didn't go down but I couldn't get any traction either. I need some knobbies for days like this. That flywheel takes the rear wheel with it when rolling off the throttle and downshifting. Too much sideways stuff when stopping and starting.
I want to add a winter weather beater to the stable some day.
There's never a Rokon around when ya need one.![]()
I toyed with the idea of putting serious knobbies on my R60/5 for that purpose, but I ended up selling it to someone who'll be a better custodian of it that I. Still, it would have been fun.![]()
