Looks like a R65LS, but they had black pipes and white wheels, didn't they?
See Phil Hawksley's site for some pictures:
http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/bmwphotos.htm
Phil's site shows the LS with the red/black colors as suggested. This bike Gail pictured does have the small cockpit fairing which suggests it's an LS.
This page http://www.nebcom.com/noemi/moto/r65lsfaq.html says that the LS came in two colors, red and silver, and had the distinctive wedge fairing. Possibly the black mufflers have been changed out. So maybe this is an R65LS.

What I have left is a....1965 R27
Gail,
That is an R65LS, somewhere between '81-'84 (my wife has one). The silver ones had silver wheels, the red ones had white wheels. The exhausts were normally black. The fairing was designed by Hans Muth, the man responsible for the looks of the classic R90S and R100RS models, and also the original Suzuki Katana.
Hope that helped,

Here it is.
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return. Please ask me to wait.
Any tool if used improperly can be used as a hammer.
There's something about taking the airhead out for some "beemer therapy" on an early morning ride; it just sort of stirs the soul.
