Hello Mick,
It truly is an 1986 R80. The fairing came from from one of our club members in Ottawa. This is the bike that got me into a lot of trouble. Met my future wife because of her.
As you saw in my other post "Can a BMW motorcycle change your life" this one certainly did. It's warped but it did.
I hope that your bike brings you as much pleasure.
