Lighting, it's interesting to me that your both an English professor and a die maker. Good for you.
I couldn't earn much money teaching, so I became a die maker. Now that I am retired from die making, I am teaching again. My fulltime job, however, is taking care of my five old motorcycles and two wood boats.

very nice. My undersanding is that the solid black with blue lininig was a Butler & Smith "special" of some sort. Mine is a metallic black. And, you might want to check your valve covers. Looks like the links and rechts might have been swapped.

I've wondered if the valve covers should be black. Links and rechts?
Links = left
Rechts = right
Notice that the fins on the cover do not run level- that's the giveaway that they have been swapped.
Bikeless for now...but not forever!

I see,why would they be swapped? You think they just put them back on wrong after service?
That would be my guess. And, by the way, the 78s were originally unpainted. I did paint mine, and the front cover, just because I like tham that way!
