    Big Chemical Plant Explosion

There's a big chemical plant explosion right now in Des Moines about five or six miles away. They don't yet know the cause but there are a LOT of chemicals stored there that are hazardous with ongoing large secondary explosions. Some areas are being evacuated.

Could be an industrial accident and most likely is an accident. If it's an attack, to all of you terrorist enablers out there (and those who protest most strongly are probably the ones I refer), FU.

Fortunately, the winds are in a direction where I am ok but others are not so lucky. This happened right about where E/W I-80 and N/S I-35 intersect so it's going to affect a lot of transportation not to mention commuters.

You're a good man. Always keep a bug out bag. Learned my lesson in a house fire. They come in handy for fires, mud slides, tornados, hurricanes (unless one wants to wait around for the government), and insurrection among other uses for a bag.

It's most likely an accident but the thought is always at the back of the mind that the bad guys are playing games. After all, they had planned on doing a gas attack on the NY subway about three or four years ago and OBL's second in command told them to hold off as they had something bigger in mind for the U.S. This information came from intercepted phone calls before the terrorist enable newspaper the NY Times leaked classified information.

This chemical plant explosion would have been great for the bad guys as it's right about at the intersection of two major Interstates for transporting our nation's foods and goods. It is also upstream, and close upstream, from our water supply here. This river later drains into the Mississippi. Fortunately, the tanker cars right next to this fire that are full of extremely toxic chemicals have not blown up.

But there's nothing to worry about. Words are just words and there are no enemies of America except what were created by the president.

It makes one wonder if the wildfires in California were coincidence or not.
19 BMWMOA Nationals under my belt, and I have no idea what I am doing.

Well, there was an al-Queda type in custody who told an FBI agent not a month ago about a plot to set wildfires in the states of CA, ID, and some other western states. The plan was to set the fires on timers and be out of the country before the fires actually started.

With a little thought, one could paralyze and panic the country for about $3,000 and there is no defense. No, I'm not going to write how or even hint - I'm not the New York Times. I support the president, LEO's, and the military.

Glad I live well west of there. Burning silicone and ink solvents don't mix well with the pleasant aroma of burning leafs on a beautiful fall night. From initial reports from workers at the plant, it sounds as if barrels of solvent being unloaded from a rail car weren't properly grounded. One spark and then everything went to Hell in a hand basket. Apparently the heat can be felt from 1/2 mile away.

I was riding out at my lake place on Sunday and a lady was burning leaves. Man, I miss that smell from my childhood. Another reason I love parts of Europe. The small villages with the burning leaves in the fall and the smoke hanging in the air to heat their homes in villages. Yeah, it's probably not fun to be some of the villagers but the wood smell is great!

Glad there's been few injuries on this fire in Des Moines. I could see the smoke way out west here and my lady friend could easily see it in Ames.

You guys shoulda seen the big explosion and fire we had down in Dallas a few months ago at a welding-gas-supply place. H-cylinders of flammable gas were shooting like rockets across I-35, and one missed a man by about two feet.

If you like getting your panties in a knot about potential attacks, you woulda had a field-day with it.

I don't recall any injuries from this event, and it was ruled an accident- I think something to do with filling a tank-trailer or something like that.
    Bikeless for now...but not forever!

I recall that one on the news. We had some barrels here reportedly shooting off 1/2 mile. Wish we still lived in a world (before Jimmy Carter and his incompetence) where we didn't have to worry about the Islamo-fascists and their enablers here in America. The good old days! Sigh...

It's raining in Seattle, could that be terrorist as well, 'cause they did it yesterday as well and will probably carry on terrorising us with wetness throughout the winter!!

Damn they're cunning. You can't even differentiate between their terrorist rain and American rain, they're both wet.

Don't terrorists win if they spread paranoia, so aren't those that peddle paranoia traitors....sometimes it's hard to tell who the good guys are isn't it?

    where is safe?

I'm afraid to take a shower, so have a 200 yard personal toxic exclusion zone.
I'd considered having water flown in, but the bottles were confiscated at security.

Come to think of it I'm sure I saw a discarded box of matches on a recent ride to Mt St Helen, perhaps the eruption could be reinvestigated?

I'm a member of a new terrorist organization - the leader, actually. We're called Al Cohol. We are trying to instill terror by denying Americans their alcoholic beverages. We go out on weekends and drink as much alcohol as possible in an attempt to interrupt the supply of this precious commodity. We are also buying lots of bread in an attempt to raise wheat prices which would affect beer prices - we're quite dastardly. Mwuhahahahahahaahaha...

I'm looking to add people to the ranks, so please feel free to join. All you have to do is prove your allegiance by drinking some beer, wine, or liquor. Extra points if you mail me some.
