Best ground R 1200GS ?

Checked the active threads and didnt see anything.

Where is the best ground on a 2005 R1200GS ?

I added XM radio to track the Indians (Central champs BTW) and I have a bit of noise in the background.
Ive checked the circuit ect all looks good.

I never noticed it before but I have a little noise off the Zumo.
The XM seems more sensitive may be the conversion to 5V not sure

Everyone says its usually a ground

Let me go out on a limb here by suggesting maybe the NEG battery post.

The static is caused by a "loop" in a grounded system. Multiple pathways are created and harmonics come in to play, even when using common battery point.And interference from alternator, and possibly the bikes computerized system. The only easy way to get away from it is to get an RF isolator lead. I have to look where I got one from.Autocamm has one, but I think I got one from another vendor. GF's Roady and her INNO had a buzz until I added the isolator in line with radio. I took everything to battery BTW.

The neg post is actually very noisy.
Ive had a few Cars that were best when grounded to the frame or block
Some even provide a nice clean ground for audio.

Im a Mechanical Engineer in over my head on the electrical theory and happy that way. I had a few credits of electrical and your explanation sounds OK to me.

found where I got the isolator lead,seems it was 1/2 the price of Autocomms unit...I have on of each on two diff bikes. The Autocomm's is 'prettier" if it matters and is a male and female set-up as opposed to Hoons being two male connectors. I used them for two diff applications.
