    Floridian

Hey, do not knock it. We geezers need a ready supply of transplantable organs. To paraphrase Darwin: Kill the stupid ones before they breed.

Body armor and no helmet? Helmet and shorts? Jeans and flip-flops? How do these guys calculate the odds of which part of their bodies they're going to injure?

    Cool

Hey give him credit for protecting some of the most critically needed transplant parts. His head is pretty unused but nothing much in there will transplant other than the eyes and he does have glasses I believe.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

His spinal cord is protected. He can be thankful for that as he thinks about the pain he will feel from his other injuries.

The reason we wear brain buckets is so if any thing bad happens our brain knows how bad the rest of us hurts. But perhaps this dude is only riding the bike from his garage to the front yard????

I must come to the defense of the Sunshine State. Believe it or not, this is NOT typical of Florida riders!

No, the typical sport bike rider would be wearing his helmet. However, 95% are also wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes...even in winter...(it's hot here).

BYW, the current BMW ventilated jacket works even down here. They really should advertise.

Yup! We Floridians are all rich. That's why I drive a 1975 R90 and a 1988 K75 which both need consistant service, repairs and adjustments all done in the comfort of my own garage while begging for advice on how to lube the spines and fix the oil leak on the oil pump.
This guy was all about "Hey, look at me and my nice bike and all the money I have spent in gear".
We was in front of me for a while. Not a short ride at all. Long enough for me to reach for my trusted Fuji S2 and snap some evidence pictures.

That guy is not rich. He has $39.00 a month payment for 144 months or until he crashes and becomes a road pizza. Whichever may come first.

I don't like this saying. I mean, the first time I rode I dumped my bike in the grass along my driveway (so I don't know if that counts), but that seems like a defeatists attitude to me. Sorry for the OT, but I keep seeing that posted, and I dislike it.

As one of those very rare native Floridians, and a biker with over 35 years of experience, including my own significant crash (at the tender young age of 20), I feel qualified to comment here..

The majority of Florida riders, for some unknown reason, believe that t-shirts or tanktops, shorts, no helmets and flip-flops will keep them cooler in the heat. I refer to those individuals as "skin grafts waiting to happen". Of course, that's provided they survive the massive cranial injury upon impact with the non-pliable road surface. This is just Nature's way of throwing some chlorine into the gene pool.

As a retired military guy, I fully support and have fought for democracy and the wonderful freedoms in this country, including the unalienable right to be stupid. If they choose to not wear protective gear, that's fine with me. "Paddle faster, the banjos are getting louder..."

Mesh gear is the way to go (with a cooling vest or cold water-soaked shirt underneath in the summer!). Hey, we even get to wear our full leather suits one or two days in January...

Yeah; I was happy to get it out of the way first thing, at lower speed, in the grass, with a helmet on.
