Lake Geneva Area
Lake Geneva has been a resort community since just after the Civil War, when wealthy Chicago families discovered the site and began building summer homes there. Today the elegant, often historic estates still ring the lake. Most of them are on private roads and can only be viewed from the water aboard any of the lake's scheduled cruises. There is also a 26-mile path on the water's edge that circles the lake.

While Geneva Lake continues to entrance visitors with its beauty, water recreation is not the only activity to enjoy here. A brochure detailing the city's Historic Walking Tour can be obtained at the local chamber office. The area features splendid golf courses, luxury resorts and lovely bed & breakfast inns. Neighboring communities of Williams Bay, Elkhorn, Burlington and East Troy offer a number of attractions that make for great day trips.
