    Aerostich Rider Wearhouse

Barb, Buddy and I stopped at Aerostich Rider Wearhouse on Wednesday, I took these three photos last year when I stopped to say "hi" to Andy and the crew.

One of the observations I made at the Rally; the average Aerostich worker seemed content and proud. One example, the older gent who makes the tank panniers came over to me with glow on his face. The craftsman told me he made my Tank Panniers from start to finish. I also felt good, that my purchase made him, an American worker feel proud.

    Two Wheel Tuesday

Every Tuesday April thru October, a few hundred motorcycles gather in the parking lot behind Culvers Drive-in at 124 Street, two blocks south of Capital Drive. Take Highway 45 Capital Drive west(Harley Plant exit). Bikes start arriving at 5 PM, leaving at sunset. REI Camping store is straight ahead on Capital Drive.

See You at Two Wheeled Tuesday!!!

First Sunday of May & October
    Just West of Madison Wisconsin
    Slimey Crud Run

One of Wisconsin big Sport Bike Events is the Slimey Crud Run (yea, the event that Cycle World's Peter Eagan is always raving about). The Event starts about 10 miles west of Madison in Pine Bluff and ends 40 miles northwest in Leland, but you have to remember about the Pine Bluff/Leland route, is that you can't get there from here. Everyone takes a different road, and the Bikers all leave and arrive when they feel.

Do your own Slimey Crud Run before or after the the National Rally. Pine Bluff (95 miles, 2 hours from West Bend) has some of the best twistys around.

Initially named Pine Grove, the town was renamed Soldiers Grove in the 1830s during the Blackhawk Indian War when it was established as an encampment for soldiers. Soldiers Grove is still a very small town (Population 583) that got flooded out by the (now diked) Kickapoo River. The town relocated on to the hills next to town. The Campground is in the old downton. The Madison Club has the Great River Road Run there last year. Everyone loved the town and the town loved the BMW crowd. Soldiers Grove reminds me of Paonia. The roads in that area are some of Wisconsin Finest. The G R3 Rally had 250 Rally Rats, but the campsite could hold many times that. Soldiers Grove charges a small fee for camping.

Soldiers Grove would be my choice for a base camp to discover Wisconsin. Make sure that at some point you ride The Great River Road Hwy 35. Another optional ride would be Wild Cat Mountain or the Mindoro Cut routes. My recommended tour route would be take any of the roads out of town, then when you get to an interesting road, take it, you can not go wrong. Most motorcyclist from Wisconsin like to take the Alphabet roads, and keep in mind that triple letter roads are mostly better than single letter roads. Mapquest has Soldiers Grove to West Bend at 180 mile 3.5 hours.

America's first Solar Village. A historic village in WisconsinÔÇÖs beautiful Hidden Valleys.

Lots of valleys, hills, curvy roads, small rural farms and three great riversÔÇöthe mighty Mississippi, the Wisconsin, and the meandering Kickapoo all in this riding area.

Sone of the best places in the world to go fishing. Port Washington, Sheboygan, Two Rivers & Manitowoc have great fleets of charter boats. Remember to make your reservations early, as they are always booked for mid-summer. You can charter a boat for half or whole days. https://www2.wildlifelicense.com/wi/
