I opted for a StreetGuard II suit this year and its worth every dolar it cost. Absolute highest quality.

Ditched my Stich (I've had 3) for a savannah 2 and its definitely a better jacket! It's a bit more trouble to install the gortex liner but bone dry you will stay. The quality of the BMW stuff is first class, I just wish they'd tone the colors down a bit. I like mine a bit more plain.
Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything.

And what is the warranty worth? I bought a Commuter Suit II several years ago and the first couple times I was out in heavy rain, I got soaked in the crotch. I took the pants back and my dealer sent them in for repair. I don't recall how long it took to get them back, but IIRC it was late fall. When I rode in the rain the following summer, they still leaked. So the warranty didn't really matter.

The other thing I didn't like was that the collar on the jacket rolled inwards, pressing a saw like edge against my neck. I always had to wear something around my neck, even in warm weather. Now the venturi liner is in tatters and several snaps having pulled out.

I really wanted this to work because it has a lot of good attributes, but I finally caved in and bought a Darien 2 piece suit. I've been in some pretty heavy rain since and remained dry. I look dumpy (Aerostich chic?) but I'm happy when I'm dry.

Unfortunately, several large So. Cal dealers didn't seem overly excited about returning warranty items that I know would have been taken back immediately by other "gear" stores in my area. One guy even told me he wouldn't return my 2 month old gloves w/ stitching undone because I didn't pull them on from the fingers!?

I have had good luck with the warranty. I have had a zipper and a tear on a glove. If the dealer won't take it, the manufacturer has to since the manufacturer is the one who does the warranting.

    Thumbs up bmw clothing

The best...I have a venting machine and a tourguard outfit....just finished (11/8) a moderate speed (40mph) faceplant with a minivan doing the deed via t-bone....GS= total.....Helmet= shield frosted and side ground flat, Kevlar Gloves= chunked and pitted, Sidi Boots= scuff and ankle cup ground down, me= broken ribs and collar bone, TourGuard= light scuff, no tears, pants cut off by EMT's in ER but were undamaged.....I have no doubt the Venting Machine would work as well......you pays your $$$ and takes your chances but this stuff is the real deal as far as quality, performance and comfort

Roadcrafter whenever its not too hot out, i.e. 85+. First Gear mesh pants and jacket when it is. I feel much more comfortable in the Roadcrafter and its quick and easy to take off. With much practice I have learned to fold it to fit in my top trunk on my RT. Added a $9.95 helmet lock from J.C. Whitney to the bottom of the trunk so I can still lock the helmet up when the Roadcrafter is inside. Incidentally, the Roadcrafter kept me bone dry driving in Montana last summer in very heavy rain. Of course the full fairing and windshield on the RT keeps most of it off, but I have never experienced the dreaded wet crotch reported by others.
