    St.Louis shop

Anyone heard any new rumors about a dealership or independent BMW shop in the St.Louis area. I'd really like to bring my GS home from Ca.. Alices restaurant, skyline dr., highway 1,9,84,39, on second thought, maybe I'll just leave it out there.

Others will direct you to independent wrenches, I am not local or familiar with any.

As to a dealership: I can not find the link I had, but BMW was soliciting on their web site for people interested in owning/operating a St. Louis dealership. Beyond that it is all conjecture.

MI is closer to you than CA is and there is a great dealer there although you could not have advertized your restaurant then...lol

The co. I work for is in Mt. View Ca.,I get some days off in Ca. occasionally so I have my GS out there. I wish I owned Alices,it's a favorite destination for alot of riders in the bay area. Somebody needs to open a place like it in the St. Louis area. Defiance is sorta like that, but I suspect that stop is more about drinkin beer than ridin and talkin and a good cup of coffee,o-well, guess I'm gettin old.Anyway thanks for the info, I'll see if I can track that shop down. The GS doesn't need anything but not having a place to get it worked on makes me insecure

Busch Parks, which owns Sea World used to own that park so I will give him a pass on that one.

The Bixby Country Store in Bixby, MO might be the closest thing to it. Great place with lots of stuff to look at, and pretty decent food.

Thumbs up Another St Louis shop,

Bob Honz and George Saunders (both formerly with BMW Motorrad) have a shop here in St Louis 'Dog Town'. They're good guys.

Mar's Right the Bixby store is a great little area destination point. It's surrounded by great riding roads of all kinds from twisty tarmac to gravel roads and trails.

    Want to be a dealer....

The first time I walked into the new dealership I thought it couldn't last. BMW does not have the market share to support large showrooms, lots of inventory, lots of employees in a market like this. The only way they can survive and support the overhead is with another brand or two.

We have a couple of BMW's here, but with no place to get warranty work done without going a relatively long way, I think it is time to get rid of them and get something else with a better dealer network. I have no desire to do the wrenching myself. I know many love to do that, but I'm too lazy. It's a pity though, I have owned a bunch of them and they have grown on me.

What's the "official" requirements for getting warranty work done? I don't know for sure, but it would seem that if it's done by a registered mechanic, with BMW parts, and there are receipts for the work, it would seem that covers the warranty. Anyone know the answer?

I think warranty work has to be done at a certified shop, however it seems like there is some provision for recovering the costs of repair where there is clearly no other way. BMW will often pay for the additional costs of transporting a bike to the nearest dealer, or depending on the circumstance, to the dealer of choice in addition to the "Roadside Assistance". Ultimately, BMW can do or authorize anything they wish and what they authorize depends greatly on the dealer involved, the "loyal" customer and the field rep for the area.
I surely wouldn't abandon BMW if I lived in St. Louis. Primarily, there is a ton of BMW help there and BMW shops less than a half day's ride as well...not to mention the HQ of this club and the great listeners to our tales of woe who work there.
My other bike is a BMW.
