Unless they just changed things this year, all of the spin-on oil filters are the same for all of the BMWs.
Cold and hot rubber as dictacted by not riding in the last few hours vs. riding over the last few hours, respectively.
"Cold" is ambient regardless if the temperature is 42 or 92 deg...
I have a K100RS but have also been told/read various values.
The best advice I've seen (from MOA, I believe), stated that you should fill your tires to whatever value gives a 10% pressure increase...

On the K12s I couldn't say--perhaps someone else can answer.
On my K100, the ABS only interrupts the pressure you're applying to the locking brake. If you've clamped down on the lever, the...
I agree with Kbasa:
the bump or hole is causing a change in the amount of pressure the brakes are applying the pad, causing (what wants to be) a quick lockup.
The ABS is jumping in very...
I have an 88, but that should be close enough that I can think of two things that may cause what you describe:
1. The sight glass has become stained after all this time so it's brownish tint is...
If it's a small enough spot, use regular white modeling paint and then come back over it with clear lacquer.
I'm still a few months away, but this fall I'll be replacing my steering bearing. Since the whole front end will have to be removed, I'm trying to think of other things to do at the same time. I'm...
I believe BMW has a repair kit for them.
I think, though, it was intended to replace bolts that had broken off at the muffler and left a hole.
The best fix--StaInTune.
We're stretching my memory now since I upgraded my brake lights long ago and added running lights, but....
I seem to remember that the Ks have a single bulb with two filaments, one for running and...
On my 1988, I average 160-180 miles before refueling, depending on the type of riding I'm doing.
To expand on R75rider's answer:
Since there is not a petcock, there really isn't a reserve as well. On the 85s, you have one light come on at one level and then the next comes on at another (I...
Just some info about the pump for anyone facing this issue in the future:
To have the dealer rebuild the pump will be about $200-$250, much of which is labor. A new pump is $300-350 for the part...
1. Burned out brake light.
2. Make sure each lever makes the brake light come on independently of the other. If one doesn't, bad switch making the computer think the brake light is burned out.
The pads were new so I wasn't worried about that.
I guess I was indirectly asking about how to tell if the rotors are needing replacing.
I've tried several things to stop the squeaks and have given up on that.
Cleaning the pads with brake cleaner seems to have rid me of the groaning.
I'm sure everyone has had front brakes that squeak and whine at high frequency as you're coming to a stop and applying light pressure, but what about groaning?
This is a low-pitched sound much...
More like around $350+tax now-a-days.
I bought one and thought about doing it myself but decided to have it done with a service 2 which will change the coolant anyway.
Hello all,
I noticed an oil drip from my 88K100RS and went about investigating.
It is coming from the weep hole at the bottom of the water/oil pump.
Not a terrible drip, but one I would like...
ABS DOES NOT WORK IN A CURVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last time I was fortunate enough to have ABS (or unfortunate enough to have to use it, depending on your POV), I could definitely feel/hear...
When I looked into bar-backs for my K100RS-ABS, my dealer said he thought an RT brake line would work since those were a little longer. (I never bought them so couldn't say for sure.)
I can't speak in the context of a side car, but I do have an Ohlins that I like and probably greatly under-use. The one I have has two "remotes." One fits by my right ankle and the other fits...
I'll be adding a some headlight relays to my 88 K100RS soon. Even though I could do everything inside the fairing, the more I look at it, the more it looks like I could do some things inside the...
