OK I'm done now.
We had to wait until 2:00 pm to let the ice on the road melt enough to get to this point.
Sounds like your getting hammered with the ice & snow.
Let it be adventure if practical (or not).
Can you identify these POI's - taken from the "Alaskan MOB" tour 2008.
I liked it alot. Thanks for sharing.
Picked up the 3M Dual Lock to try first and have the rivet gun standing by.
I have mine in the tool kit tray under the seat right next to the Touratech fuse box relay setup. No problems with electrical noise of any kind.
Does anyone have any insight as to what would be the best adhesive to use to make a few modifications to the inside of the Vario bags on my R1200Gs.
I need to attach a bracket or industial...
Just take a disposable flat head screwdriver and bend the end in a vise to a ~45 degree angle. Carefully work it under and around the edge of the spark plug boot (use a cloth to avoid skiff marks)...
Don't ask me how I know but, if you try to add a relay to the headlight power, contact me so that I can tell you how to reset your headlights (or at least what I had to do to get mine going again).
I just added the TT CANbus helper and used the "green with blue stripe" wire on the diagnostics plastic gizmo under the seat. This gives you switched power (if you add a switch) that is easier to...
I put my Autocom under the seat. Tied into the TT CANbus helper so that I can have the switched option for the MP3 and GPS.
MP3 and GPS cables are run from up front with no problems. Great...
I have had several metric bikes some of them considered to be collectables. I have also had 3 BMW's. I have not missed anything but the BMW's. The 650 was my intro to BMW, sold it for a great...
Actually there are 2 different CANbus helpers from Touratech.
This one shuts everything connected to it off when you are starting the bike. i.e. key on = accessories on, key off = accessories off...
I lived in the Artic for 10 years (off and on) and I'm impressed, amused, and possibly jealous???
You really should have gone with the whale oil version (don't ask) as this gives it a rather harsh...
OK - Let me get this right, you're retired, a member of MOA, and have a wife that is willing to do it all again.
Have you always been this lucky??? ;)
I think congratulations are in order.
I have done trips through this area many times. It is one of my favorite areas in the US. Did you get to do "The Slide" during your float trip?
I worked at the Boquios Research Center in Big...
Glad to hear everything went well.
I will be waiting for some pictures of the Fall colors in your area when you get to ride again. :lurk
Fall came early and guick in the high country this year.
Here are some of my favorites that my daughter and I thought we would share from last weeks ride. Special Note: In Alaska we include...
Looks like you had a great ride. Great photos.
It has been ~15 years since I went through this area but these pictures brought back good memories.
Make sure you remember to take your camera on...
I wish you hadn't said anything about the "termination dust", now we have to put up with this type of scenery while we are riding.
When you're ready we're ready.
And since the bikes are GS's we're thinking of just going with tire chains this year. :p
Great pictures and report Burnszilla.
The Wrangells are to far from home for this trip. All these pictures came from within an hour of the Anchorage bowl. This one in particular was taken on the Matanuska River just outside of Palmer,...
