    2 different Dyna coils.

I had an early dyna system on my R90S and lost one of the Hall Effect pickups. There were 2 pickups, one for each cylinder. I drove back to the rally and put a borrowed backing plate and points,...

    Lowering a Mono shock BMW

Has anyone lowered a 1985-1995 mono shock BMW? I am working on my wifes bike and want to bring it down 1-2". She has driven a 1981 R100RS that I lowered for over 100,000 miles and we are thinking...

    My 2 cents.

The photo should have shown the cylinders and been a bit closer, the rims are alloy and I think that /2 500's had them stock. However, one can put any wheels on a bike as replacements. Closer exam...

    Make sure of size

Be careful getting bars other than ones made for BMW. Harly bars are slightly bigger and the perches won't slide on the bars.

The R100RS has flat bars that would be a bolt up.

There are two 13mm bolt heads that hold the fairing mount to the frame of the bike. If loose there fairing can move alot. I use a 12 point 13mm box end wrench and gain access to the heads on each...

    1974 fender brace

I think you have the fender brace that came on a 1974 BMW. The next year they put a different one on to make more room for the tire. If you put a 3.25-19 on it it would most likely work. I suggest...

It's made out of fiberglas. All you would have to do is make a form near the shape you wanted and glass over the outside. If you wanted to remove the form after the glas work, it would have to have...

    Modified seat for R100RS

I did a remodel for my wifes R100Rs and used a seat cover that was meant to be a removable cover for a mid 70's seat. Allowing a solo seat and the dual seat to be used when wanted. It was...

    Frame differences

1955-1960(or so) frames were the same and 1961-1967 were the same (added gussets 68-69 were w/o sidecar mounts in the US and possibly the fork angle was changed, tho I have never seen specs....

    /3 seat. and rear flap

I think the seat is original or from some bike with the same frame. It is a Denfeld. The R68 has the fiberglas front fender, the R51/5 has the fabricated rear flap. I did it after doing a similar...

I also couldn't find any rear flaps, so I started welding flat metal. It actually turned out acceptable. It turned out fine in spite of the rough look. Only could load one photo so thought this...

    /3 dual seats

Darryl, My R68 came with a dual seat that appears it was made for the bike. It was different than a /3 type. I am thinking of putting it on my R51/3 as it mounts on the solo seat tabs and the rear...

    Check the cable for choke

Take a look at the carb end of your cables for the choke. See if one is possibly broke and not releasing from the choke position. If one carb stayed choked, in theory the bike could die at idle. ...

    I vote it's a 1980

The front wheel seems to have the gussett near the hub so is not a recalled wheel. As the 1980 was the last of the hi compression R100's it probably has a 140mph speedo. The rear drive housing...

    Original BMW solo seat

I put a BMW solo seat on a 1989 R100RS monoshock. I had to put on a /6-7 rear fender, I think I may have used a R65LS fender. The fenders on monoshock are much wider than the older ones. The LS...
